The most important enhancements and fixes are listed below.

Enhancements and known issues resolved

Enhancements

Users Management – Security

A new token-based auto-login authentication mechanism is introduced, to improve security. The system prompts the user to enter the username and password during the first login. A security token is created upon successful authentication that is valid for 7 days. This mechanism gets activated for GUI and No-GUI SPDRM clients that start without a userticket argument.

Data Search

Significant performance improvement while checking for updates of data objects through the SPDRM Client.

Data Management

The handling of part instances (i.e. parts that are referenced within the hierarchy of a subsystem) has been improved, both through the SPDRM Client UI and through the script API.

Data Migration / Archival

The usability of the UI of the DM Export tool has been improved to facilitate the selection of Entities to be exported.

Process Observer / HPC submission

The items listed in the “Submitted Jobs” window are now displayed in a flat list view (instead of tree view), enabling sorting and filtering.

Issue Management

The new column “Resolved” has been added in the Issue Tracking table that displays the resolution date of each issue.

Web Services – API

The web service “Migrate DM Item Paths” now supports the migration (re-calculation) of DM paths for Rich Library Items (RLIs), in addition to DM items.

A new validation has been added in the web service “Create Structure” that detects invalid property/attribute types in the current data model.

REST API

The endpoint “api/dm/dmobject/attributes” has been introduced to enable the setup of Attributes/Additional Attributes on data objects.

The endpoint “api/dm/hierarchy/subsystem/{id}” has been introduced to return the hierarchy of a subsystem in an xml or json format.

The endpoint “api/dm/dmobjects/{id}/mediafile” has been extended to support download of files associated with RLIs, DM Files or Entities.

The endpoint “api/dm/dmobjects” has been enhanced to support the query of RLIs, Simple Files and Folders in the betaQL expression.

The endpoints “api/dm/dmobjects” and “api/dmdmobjects/children” have been extended to support an optional list of sortBy query parameters that enables the sorting of the returned items.

The documentation of endpoints has been elaborated to include information about the required authorization in the header of each request.

The documentation of endpoint “api/dm/dmobjects” has been elaborated to include details for the date format that can be used when querying dates.

License Management

From now on, the required license for the client application is obtained only by the client application itself. Subsequently, the server configuration key “client_acquires_license” becomes obsolete and will be ignored from now on.

Known issues resolved

Data Model

The DM attributes specified in the data model (dm_structure_TBM.xml) as of type INTEGER, or FLOAT would not be handled properly, and would be stored as of type STRING in the SPDRM database.

Script API

The script function “process.getWorkflowAttributes” would erroneously return the State value as a java object, instead of string.

The script function “dm.getHierarchyOfSubsystem” would erroneously export all files associated to the parts included in the hierarchy of the subsystem, instead of the hierarchy xml only.

Scheduled Jobs

The “Scheduled Jobs” functionality would malfunction of Oracle-based installations.

Users Management – Security

The privileges that were defined through the “DM Structure (Schema)” window would fail to be permanently stored.

Web Services – API

Searching using the ANSA script function dm.QueryDMObjects() would not return results for queries based on attributes of FLOAT data type.

The web service “DM Export” would fail to create the expected folder structure in the file system, in case of Oracle-based installations.

The web service “Create Structure” would fail In case the data model contained attributes of type INTEGER, or FLOAT and there were DM objects already saved using older SPDRM versions.

REST API

The endpoint “api/dm/dmobjects/{id}/references” would fail to return the reference type of each DM Item listed in the response.

For more details about the new software features, enhancements and corrections please, refer to the Release Notes document.

Documentation Updates

Updated Documents

Updated installation guide, scripting API guide and user’s guide.

Supported Platforms and System Requirements

The server software of SPDRM is currently available on Linux and MS Windows 64bits.

The client software of SPDRM is running under 64bit flavours of Linux and MS Windows.

The software requires a different license key to the rest of the products of BETA CAE Systems. This license key should be incorporated into the same license file, if such is already installed, and requires beta_lm, the proprietary license manager of BETA CAE Systems.

For details, refer to the System Requirements document.

What to download

All files required for the installation of this version reside in the folder named: “SPDRM_v1.5.3” and are dated as of December 14, 2021.

These files should replace any pre-releases or other files downloaded prior to that date.

The distribution of this version of SPDRM is packaged in one, single, unified installation file that invokes the respective installer and guides the procedure for the installation of the required components (i.e. SPDRM server and client).

For the installation of the software on each platform type, download from the respective folders, the .tar.gz file for Linux or the .zip file for Windows.

Earlier software releases are also available in the sub-directory called “Previous_Versions” or in a folder named after the product and version number.
