Formlabs Announces 2022 Digital Factory Conference on May 3

SOMERVILLE, MA, USA, Apr 7, 2022 – Formlabs, the leading 3D printing company, announced The Digital Factory Conference will return to Cruiseport Boston for the fourth time on May 3, 2022. Digital technologies are transforming the way products are designed, engineered, prototyped, manufactured, sold, and serviced. The Digital Factory aims to make these technologies accessible to leaders in every industry. With a packed agenda of keynotes and panelists from AutoDesk, iRobot, Wayfair, Boeing, MIT, and more, presenters will discuss the state of manufacturing and how digital transformation can address supply chain challenges today and into the future. Key themes that will be explored include: supply chain agility, distributed manufacturing, digital transformation, and global economics.

“COVID and geopolitical strife in the last two years have put supply chains, especially those using advanced manufacturing processes, on the global stage. While many people are affected by this, it is critical that those of us who are responsible for solving it get down into the details to help reimagine global manufacturing,” said Max Lobovsky, co-founder and CEO of Formlabs. “New software tools, manufacturing processes, and a first principles approach are necessary for arriving at the best solution. Digital Factory aims to be a venue for learning about and discussing all these topics with industry insiders.

The growing lineup of notable speakers includes:

  • Nassim Taleb, best-selling author of The Black Swan: The Impact of the Highly Improbable and Antifragile: Things That Gain from Disorder. Taleb spent 21 years as a risk taker (quantitative trader) before becoming a researcher in philosophical, mathematical and (mostly) practical problems with probability. Taleb will discuss how the pandemic exposed the fragility of the human aspect of the supply chain to reveal that the small and agile could flourish.
  • Carl Bass, former CEO of Autodesk. Bass designs and builds things – robots, boats, electric cars – in his Berkeley, CA workshops. He also serves as the lead director of Zendesk Inc and as a director at Box and Ouster.
  • Rodney Brooks, founder of iRobot, Robust AI, Rethink Robotics. Rodney is a robotics entrepreneur and is currently the CTO and co-founder of Robust AI.
  • Amy Feldman, senior editor at Forbes. Feldman heads up Forbes’ coverage of manufacturing and industrial innovation.
  • Max Lobovsky, co-founder and CEO of Formlabs. Lobovsky pioneered the new category of professional desktop 3D printing when it launched the world’s first affordable, powerful desktop stereolithography 3D printer.
