Concepts NREC Releases Agile Engineering Design System v2025.2 for Turbomachinery

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, VT, USA, Oct 27, 2025 — Concepts NREC is pleased to announce the latest release of the Agile Engineering Design System, v2025.2.

The Agile Engineering Design System is an integrated suite of software modules for Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) and Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) specialized for turbomachinery.

The CAE release includes some notable enhancements which improve design workflows, expand secondary leakage path capabilities, and help designers push the boundaries of performance. This release takes a fresh approach to volute modeling with a focus on watertight 3D models and robust tongue geometries. The leakage path capabilities in the proprietary 1D thermodynamic cycle calculation tool, CYCALTM, have been greatly expanded via a secondary network solver.

The TurboOPT II™ product has been enhanced to fully integrate with CFD solvers such as ADS Code LEO and Ansys CFX® to enable more robust optimization. The ARMD rotordynamics and bearing analysis package now offers a honeycomb seal option.

The latest version of our MAX-PACTM software for producing 5-axis machining toolpaths has added advanced tools to analyze and optimize toolpaths providing greater insights and controls to yield parts of the highest quality. Users can now plot process parameters such as axis reversals, and drill/drag angles to analyze and optimize toolpaths. New blade finishing options within MAX-SITM now allow for cross pocket passes and blending.

“We are always excited for our CAE and CAM software releases. It is when we put months (and sometimes years) of hard work and translating market needs and customer feedback into powerful new features and tools”, said Thiago Ebel, Concepts NREC Director of Technology and Innovation. “But this one is particularly exciting for us. It delivers on our commitment to integrated workflows and continuously integrating ‘real-world’ physics, such as secondary flows and seals, which are too often ignored in the design phase and then become costly surprises on the test rig. By solving these challenges and utilizing advanced automatic workflows, we’re helping our customers push the boundaries of performance in ways that are actually achievable and manufacturable.”
