Phillips Additive, InssTek Collaborate to Launch DED Metal 3D Printing in India

PUNE, India, Jul 23, 2025 – Phillips Additive, the additive manufacturing division of Phillips Machine Tools India, is proud to announce a strategic partnership with InssTek Inc., a global leader in Directed Energy Deposition (DED) technology for metal additive manufacturing. This collaboration marks a significant step in strengthening India’s advanced manufacturing ecosystem, with applications spanning aerospace, defense, semiconductors, medical devices, automotive, tooling, and R&D sectors.

DMT Technology at the Heart of InssTek’s DED Systems

InssTek’s cutting-edge metal 3D printing systems are powered by its proprietary DMT (Direct Metal Tooling) technology, an ASTM-recognized DED (Directed Energy Deposition) process. Through this partnership, Phillips Additive will now offer InssTek’s full range of metal additive manufacturing systems to Indian manufacturers and research institutions.

The portfolio includes:

  • MX-Fab – For industrial-grade, multi-material fabrication
  • MX-Lab – Designed for research and alloy development
  • MX-Med – Tailored for orthopedic applications with porous coatings
  • PCM Series – For precise, high-performance powder feeding
  • NARAE System – A large-format system integrated with robotic automation
  • AM-Module – Advanced beam control with automatic zoom optics and modular flexibility

These systems are capable of producing fully functional parts, complex geometries, high-performance coatings, and conducting rework or repair of critical components.

Empowering Indian Industry with Total Additive Solutions

With this partnership, Phillips Additive aims to accelerate the adoption of DED technology in India by offering end-to-end solutions — from system integration and technical support to training and applications engineering. This move empowers Indian manufacturers to innovate faster, reduce lead times, and enhance competitiveness on a global scale.

Anuj Budhiraja, Vice President, Phillips Additive, said, “We are proud to partner with InssTek and bring their precision DED systems to India. This alliance allows us to serve industries that demand high-performance metal AM solutions, from aerospace and defense to medical and R&D. With features like multi-material feeding, real-time feedback, and 5-axis AM-CAM, these systems are ready for production, prototyping, and research alike.”

Kyunghoon Sun, CEO, InssTek Inc. added, “India is a rapidly growing market for advanced manufacturing. With Phillips Additive’s strong industry presence and customer support, we are confident this partnership will help users leverage the full potential of our DMT® technology and redefine what’s possible in metal 3D printing.”
