TRUMPF Kicks-Off Apprenticeship Program across Germany; Training AI Professionals for First Time

DITZINGEN, Germany, Sep 1, 2025 – Around 100 young people will start their apprenticeships or dual studies at TRUMPF in Ditzingen on 1 September 2025. This year is special because, for the first time, students will begin the new “Data Science and Artificial Intelligence” degree program.

“Training young professionals is essential to ensure that TRUMPF can continue to be an innovative and reliable partner for its customers in the future. We are delighted to welcome so many new apprentices to Ditzingen, even in these economically challenging times,” says Jens Ottnad, Head of Global Training at TRUMPF.

The AI specialists of tomorrow

This year, TRUMPF is training three artificial intelligence specialists for the first time. In cooperation with DHBW Karlsruhe, the high-tech company is offering future AI professionals the opportunity to engage with topics such as data analysis, the development of intelligent algorithms and the use of modern AI technologies from an early stage. This allows young professionals to learn everything they need to know to further advance the use of artificial intelligence at TRUMPF.

“Dealing with AI is becoming increasingly important for companies,” Ottnad explains. “But good data doesn’t just happen on its own. The more people who understand it, the better. That’s why TRUMPF is now training its own experts. We want to further expand our leading role in the field of AI,” Ottnad continues. TRUMPF has been focusing on training in the digital and IT sectors for years, including degree programs in computer science and cyber security, as well as apprenticeships as an IT specialist in digital connectivity.

Modern training center as an optimal learning environment

This year’s apprentices are the third intake to start at the new TRUMPF Education Centre. The company opened the new building in summer 2023. Spanning around 4,000 square meters, the center gives trainees access to the latest TRUMPF technologies, including a smart factory, seminar rooms, workshops, and creative and collaborative spaces.

Fourteen apprentices are looking forward to their first day in Hettingen, and three in Teningen. In Austria, 14 new apprentices are also ready to start. Seven new apprentices have already started in Neukirch, and a further 14 will start in August at TRUMPF in Switzerland.
