ecadstar-high-speed-collageeCADSTAR Advanced HS provides powerful built-in capabilities to address the complex details of critical high-speed layout and routing.

“As products become more complex and connected, high-speed design is a key part of the design and manufacturability of printed circuit boards (PCBs). High-speed components and interfaces are at the heart of today’s smart and internet-connected products, and they demand advanced requirements for layout and routing”, says John Berrie, Signal Integrity Expert, Zuken Technology Center, Bristol. “eCADSTAR Advanced HS delivers those capabilities in an easy to use environment so that PCB designers can deliver exceptional high-speed design quality.”

High-speed PCB design

The need to utilize high-speed design principles is becoming the norm rather than the exception – even if the clock-rates are not in the gigahertz range. Many of today’s common components like DDR3, DDR4 or DDR5 SDRAMs require high-speed PCB design practices to produce high-signal quality. As product performance increases and the need for device connectivity is pervasive, so is the need for high-speed constraint-driven PCB layout techniques.

eCADSTAR Advanced HS

With a consistent user interface from design entry through physical layout, and a central constraint browser, eCADSTAR Advanced HS provides powerful built-in capabilities to address the complex details of critical high-speed layout and routing. Constraints can be specified both in the schematic, and the physical design tools, or as design rules stacks eCADSTAR’s built-in constraint browser.

HS_TTM_topologyCreationThe routing strategy for high-speed signals can be defined (“constrained”) in eCADSTAR’s Constraint Browser. Specifications include topology assignment and transmission line constraints

eCADSTAR’s high-speed capabilities include:

  1. Impedance controlled routing: In eCADSTAR, hardware engineers can constrain both single-ended and differential impedance to meet constraints on each board layer.
  2. Length, delay and skew based routing: eCADSTAR works with both, length and delay constraints, including built-in simulation for detailed investigation of effects such as signal-to-signal coupling.
  3. Topology control: High-speed signals need a routing topology that adhere to specified constraints. eCADSTAR enables topology control with a wide selection of templates and instant visualization to make control as fast and reliable as possible.
  4. Handling of differential signals: In eCADSTAR differential signals can be routed with the assistance of automatic, clean end routing, specific design rules, and constraints.

Configurations and pricing

With modular bundles, eCADSTAR Base, Advanced 3D, Advanced HS and Ultimate eCADSTAR can be configured in a wide variety of options to fit individual needs. eCADSTAR promotional pricing starts at under 2000 GBP / 2200 EUR / 2500 USD.

About eCADSTAR

eCADSTAR provides a fully managed 2D/3D design process in a modern environment with a common user interface and centralized library that exists at the heart of schematic and PCB editors. Design constraints and variants can be defined in the schematic and propagated throughout the PCB layout and routing process. eCADSTAR helps ensure that PCB designers achieve top-class high-speed design the first time.

JETCAM Expert v20.31.00 for CADCAM Nesting, JOC v3.37 for Automation Released

0

Monaco, Jan 7, 2020 – JETCAM International s.a.r.l. announced the launch of new versions of JETCAM Expert and JETCAM Orders Controller (JOC), containing various new features and enhancements.

joc-337-fill-existing-nestsJOC 3.37 allows you to select one or more nests and check if they can be used to fill existing order lists

JETCAM Expert v20.31.00 benefits from several global interface enhancements including a new Screen Macro Recording feature that allows users to assign menu options or keyboard shortcuts to strings of commands, drastically reducing the time to perform common functions. Unlimited UNDO/REDO allows the user to step back through multiple actions if required. Logic improvements across the board in areas such as fly cutting and common cutting can further reduce CNC machine runtime.

JETCAM Orders Controller (JOC) 3.37 now includes enhanced static nest ordering*, allowing users to select one or more nests in the nests screen and see if they can be used to fulfil parts in the orders list. Users can then modify the number of runs of each nest in order to see the optimum number required to fulfil the orders list. JOC can also create image thumbnails of components during CAD import. These can then be used by third-party systems such as MRP to show an image against a component. To aid customers where network stability and performance are sub-optimal JOC now makes multiple attempts to ready component data, ensuring that temporary network glitches will not impact processes from taking place.

There are also hundreds of other improvements and fixes throughout both applications.

Martin Bailey, General Manager said; “These releases focus on the user experience, with features such as Screen Macro Recording in JETCAM Expert and Static Nest Ordering in JOC both allowing users to perform tasks much quicker than before. We’ve also made significant ‘under the hood’ enhancements to many of our automation technologies, so not only do they take less time to run but they also deliver improvements in CNC machine and material efficiency on the shop floor.”

CES 2020 Survey by CITE, Dassault Reveal Consumers Want of Personalized Products

0

VELIZY-VILLACOUBLAY, France, Jan 6, 2020 – Dassault Systèmes (Euronext Paris: #13065, DSY.PA) today revealed that younger consumers are leading the push for personalization that improves products and services, quality of life and personal safety, and are more willing to pay and share their data to get it.  The findings came from a survey of citizens representing the demographics of adults in the U.S., China and France that was conducted in partnership with independent market research firm CITE Research.

The survey revealed differences among generations, geographies and technology adoption levels in terms of how consumers view personalization in mobility, healthcare, retail and the home and city environment, how they define personalization, and what they are willing to give up for it.  Yet it also confirmed that nearly all consumers already value the importance of personalization, in particular for health and personal safety, and share concerns about how data is collected and managed to achieve it.

Findings from the survey include:

  1. Consumers want personalization but don’t want to wait for it.  Eighty-three percent of consumers expect products or services to adapt in a matter of moments or hours.  Only 21% will wait four or more days for a personalized product or service to be delivered.
  2. Consumers are willing to pay on average 25.3% for personalization. In return, they expect to be compensated with an average of 25.6% savings for giving out their data. They are more willing to pay for personalized healthcare; less so for personalized retail.
  3. Industry has an opportunity to clearly define personalization.  Consumers have a mixed definition of personalization.  More than 50% define it as products/services they customize before purchasing, and as products/services selected from a list of options, as well as products/services created based on personal data; 63% of early technology adopters define personalization as the latter.
  4. Consumers are most interested in personalized products and services that benefit health, such as personalized preventative health plans based on behavior, and alert systems for falls.
  5. Personalization for personal safety is also of interest to consumers, such as products that notify of time-sensitive home emergencies, crime alerts based on location, and sending their location to police during times of safety concerns.
  6. Data privacy is a concern for 96% of consumers.  Most consumers will only share data they agreed to share in exchange for personalization, yet anonymizing data will make six out of 10 respondents more willing to share.  Eighty-eight percent will discontinue a helpful personalized service if they are unsure of how their data is being managed.  For 68%, consumer demands will lead to data protection.
  7. Artificial intelligence, 5G and home assistants are necessary for personalization.  About half of consumers think that 5G, in particular, is very necessary for delivery of personalization in healthcare, while it is seen as less vital in retail.
  8. Personalization expectations differ among generations.  Generation X , millennials  and Generation Z  are more comfortable sharing data for better personalization and are more likely to agree on the personal safety, time and monetary benefits it brings than baby boomers  and the silent generation.   Sixty percent of baby boomers are most excited about personalization in healthcare, 24% of Generation Z about mobility, and 21% of millennials about the environment.
  9. Chinese consumers are more enthusiastic about personalization than American and French consumers, but Americans have the highest expectations.  More American consumers expect personalized products and services to be commonplace by 2030, and more are willing to pay for them.

“Consumers want experiences with personalization as the differentiator, especially among younger consumers. The solution for manufacturers to capitalize on this trend is to collect, analyze and transform data while addressing concerns for data privacy.  Our 3DEXPERIENCE platform enables them to do just that. Using the platform, companies can innovate, design, create and manufacture hyper-personalized products in the most sustainable way,” said Florence Verzelen, Executive Vice President, Industry Solutions, Marketing and Global Affairs, Dassault Systèmes.

Pointwise Launches Survey on Mesh Types and Sizes Used for CFD

0

FORT WORTH, TX, USA, Jan 2, 2020 – Pointwise has launched a survey of the CFD market to assess the relative popularity of mesh types and sizes with a goal of assessing where the industry is headed in terms of flow solver and meshing technology.

“I remember in the 1980s that CFD meshes were virtually all multi-block, structured hexahedra,” said John Chawner, Pointwise’s president. “Today, a wide variety of mesh types, each with their own relative advantages, serves an even wider variety of flow solver technology. This survey is an attempt to discover where the technology is headed and seek any points of convergence.”

The 5-minute survey seeks input from CFD users about their use of structured, unstructured, and hybrid mesh topologies; their flow solver’s discretization scheme; their use of 2D, overset, and high-order meshes; and the typical number of cells in their CFD meshes.

The survey is hosted on Survey Monkey at https://ptwi.se/2rjTEmJ.
