GNA University in association with the Stratasys & DesignTech Systems took a grave initiative to develop and test 3D printable Face Shields. When the entire world is at war with the coronavirus COVID 19, Faculty of Engineering Design & Automation -Design Department is there to assist the medical community in the fight against COVID-19. GNA University is leveraging 3D printing technology to make face shields for the doctors, medical professionals and all other staff to reduce the shortage of such equipment in the wake of the novel coronavirus pandemic.

GNA University is taking a two-phase approach of Design and Development and has developed a reusable face shield in the Stratasys 3D printer consisting of a 3D print frame, a face shield cut, a piece of form and an off-the-shelf elastic band. This shield can be removed and replaced within seconds.

Mr. C.R.Tripathy, Dean Faculty of Engineering Design & Automation said, “We develop Face Shield in our 3D Printer Lab and our team is whole-heartedly working on an injection mould that will mass-produce these face shields and keep up with the soaring demand.”

Gurdeep Singh Sihra, CEO GNA Gears & Pro-Chancellor, GNA University expressed, “Transmission of the Covid-19 does not only transpire through nose and mouth, but also through droplets that enter our eyes. The designed shield can break that from happening and can decrease the droplets from dropping on the masks. Not only did we develop this face shield in 3D printer machine, but also developed many other valuable projects in this machine being used worldwide.”

He also said, “This Face Shied can be successfully used by Doctors, Healthcare Workers and Medical professionals while treating COVID 19 positive patients. This can be also used by the Security persons, Housekeeping staffs, Defence persons, drivers of the ambulance and office staffs who are in direct communion with the people to save them against the COVID19.”

The tool extends into 3D motion analysis when the dimension values are part of a 2D constrained sketch that is used to define 3D extruded, sweep, or lathed shapes.  Animating the dimension value automatically updates not only the sketch but the dependent 3D part.
8. 2D Edit Mode – The new 2D Edit mode makes it much easier to design in 2D by turning off 3D objects, editing and modification tools.  At a local menu level, only the 2D Selector is enabled, which then works with the selected object’s Coordinate System. The 2D Edit mode can be turned off by a simple click.
9. Drafting Palette Improvements –   Users can now define the Scale of Drafting Object through the local menu Properties of the Object.  In addition, as with Paper Space View Ports, the Drafting Palette now has an Option to select a Layer Set.  The Layer Set can contain both visible and non-visible layers. This enables the user to display only what information is needed in the Drafting Palette Object.
10. Covering Tool – Modeling complex shapes is now easier with the introduction of surface covering.  Covering is the process of fitting a NURB surface to a set of outer curve boundaries.  Covering compliments existing skinning and lofting tools with a technique often used to fill or close openings in surface models. For controlling the interior surface shape, covering also includes the option to specify guide curves.
11. Select Feature or Defeature a Part – Using the Facet Editor, you can now select all similar classes of ACIS Objects – Blend Networks, Blend Sequences, Protrusions or Depressions, of a body part simply by selecting a single facet of that part.  A powerful tool for replacing or removing a feature from an imported 3D part with no History.  Additionally, using the local menu of the Facet Editor, you can now make copies or delete selected facets from a solid object and the Facet Editor now has the ability to work in multiple, open drawing windows.
12. Mass Properties and Generated Weight Reports – Now, when assigning a material to a 3D Solid object, the Density of that object is applied based upon the material. Knowing the Density and the Volume of the 3D object enables TurboCAD to now display through the Mass Properties tool, that 3D object’s or collection of 3D objects’ weight.  An additional new tool then allows the user to generate a Weight Report and export it to a Bill of Materials.
13. 3D Print Check Tool – Before sending your design to your 3D printer, gain valuable information about your 3D model regarding its printability.  This new tool will effectively identify any issue in your design before sending it to the printer, and allow you to then fix it in TurboCAD.  A great tool for saving you time and unnecessary wear and tear on your 3D printer.

MOSCOW, Russia, Apr 22, 2020 – TESIS, a Russia-based team of scientists and engineers passionate about computational fluid dynamics, has licensed the C3D Vision module from C3D Labs. The module is part of the C3D Toolkit software development kit and will be used to visualize computational models in TESIS’ FlowVision CFD software.

FlowVision is a fully integrated software application for performing complex computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis involving multi-phase fluid-structure interactions, moving objects, free surfaces, complex geometry, and more.
