AVEVA Acquires Production Accounting Software from MESEnter for Value Chain Optimization

0

LONDON, UK, Apr 6, 2020 – AVEVA, a global leader in engineering and industrial software, announced that it has acquired  production accounting software from South Korean based company MESEnter to extend AVEVA’s value chain optimization solution.

MESEnter’s software offering, previously branded MES ENTER ErrorSolver and now re-branded AVEVA Production Accounting, has been proven and tested by major producers in the continuous process industries since 2005. It helps improve accuracy of planning models, manage operations performance, identify loss detection and faulty instrumentation and ultimately move operations towards a plant-wide reconciliation.

“AVEVA’s leadership in optimizing across the value chain continues to create new opportunities as part of the digital transformation of refinery, petrochemical and mining operations,” said Harpreet Gulati, Senior Vice President, Planning and Operations at AVEVA. “The addition of this technology also provides another integral piece in AVEVA’s process operations portfolio.”

The newly added software will enable AVEVA to further drive profitability across the value chain for its customers. AVEVA Production Accounting software furthers AVEVA’s commitment towards its Value Chain Optimization strategy to help customers eliminate information silos and integrate critical business processes across their operations.

Building a holistic Value Chain Optimization Strategy

This is yet another example of AVEVA’s continued focus to bring together a complete portfolio geared towards optimizing its customers’ value chains to help drive their digital transformation strategies. The newly acquired software will enable customers to close the loop with prescriptive performance management of their operations, ensuring that actual performance helps to drive decision-making for future planning.

“AVEVA has been a long-time partner of MESEnter and so this technology acquisition makes absolute sense. It presents a great opportunity for operators to efficiently leverage the value available from production accounting to help with material balance and data reconciliation across the plant”, said WS Cho, CEO of MESEnter.

AVEVA Production Accounting software has a user-friendly interface which provides a graphical flowsheet environment for creating and maintaining the plant balance models. It allows easy navigation from area to area, utilizing intuitive screens from managing data connections, reconciliation steps, model configuration and more. It can also be configured to perform reconciliation around smaller areas of the plant such as compressors, pumps, exchangers, tanks or groupings of process equipment.

AVEVA Unified Learning Now Includes AI-enabled Microlearning from Axonify

0

LONDON, UK, Apr 6, 2020 – AVEVA, a global leader in engineering and industrial software, announced that it has strategically partnered with Axonify, a rapidly growing B2B SaaS company and a leader in the microlearning space, to offer adaptive microlearning powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI) as part of AVEVA Unified Learning.

This strategic partnership with Axonify makes AVEVA the first leading digitalization company to deliver microlearning solutions for industrial operations staff. This is part of an overarching framework designed to help companies build competence, improve worker performance and drive behavioral change. The training program drives measurable outcomes for organizational competency needs, all enabled by three key aspects:

  1. A single integrated platform from one vendor encompassing simulation for training with rich extended reality capabilities, and tools for designing learning and development programs
  2. Flexible deployment enabling customers to choose cloud, hybrid, or on-premises implementation
  3. Harnessing of AI to fill knowledge gaps with personalized training

AVEVA designs, develops and implements experiential learning with specific expertise in simulation, virtual and augmented reality, and blended enterprise learning with knowledge rooted in operations experience. Axonify prides itself on being a modern learning solution for frontline employees that actually works. The learning experience is fun, fast, personalized and designed to make critical information stick. And employees love it—83% of users log in 2-3 times a week, which translates into meaningful behavior change that drives the business results.

New Partnership Places AVEVA Ahead of Competitors

Through industry analysis and at the ARC Industry Forum in February 2020, AVEVA conducted research with clients, competitors and analysts.  This research further highlighted that its partnership with Axonify is in fact novel, and a key differentiator for AVEVA Unified Learning in industrial operations and manufacturing space, enabling digital transformation and organizational change by improving retention by 90%, engagement by 80%, while measuring the business impact of training compared against KPI’s.

“The whole process of learning in the industrial environment is going through disruptive change, with tools such as AI, AR, and VR playing a key role for a workforce that is both going through a generational transition as well as becoming location independent,” commented Craig Resnick, Vice President, ARC Advisory Group. “The partnership between Axonify and AVEVA will not only help to bring these critical training technologies to AVEVA customers, it will also help customers adapt to the new normal caused by disruptions to businesses like the COVID-19 pandemic, where remote training goes hand in hand with the remote workforce who may not have had the benefit of legacy experience of the factory floor and needs being able to remotely monitor, operate and control industrial processes.”

AI-enabled Microlearning – Adaptive to meet Individual training needs

In education, AI enables trainers to monitor learners as they complete lessons, while simultaneously offering course corrections and suggestions to them when needed. This actively engages them during the learning experience. Real-time learning analytics adapt to the specific learner’s needs creating a customized training experience. Personalization makes the training efficient and relevant—both a magnet for existing learners and a great tool for attracting new ones.

“We are excited to have entered into this strategic partnership with Axonify, as together we can truly transform the way that global organizations approach the learning lifecycle of their employees,” commented Amish Sabharwal, Global Head of Engineering, AVEVA. “Microlearning shifts training away from ‘one size fits all’ classes to daily, easily digestible question-based sessions that can be tailored to meet individual needs based on cognitive science principles. Our research shows that without reinforcement, people typically forget up to 90% of content learned during training within 30 days. AI-enabled microlearning will protect the training investment and ensure that recipients instinctively know all the crucial information when they most need it.”

“We are delighted to be partnering with AVEVA at a time when industrial organizations are starting to increasingly take up digital transformation,” commented Christine Tutssel, SVP of Global Sales and Co-Founder, Axonify. “Employee knowledge is a foundational element of an organization’s digital transformation strategy and the Axonify platform is proven to drive learning retention, knowledge growth and most importantly behavior change in a way that traditional methods can’t. We are also able to support the rapid pace of change that today’s industrial organizations require as they embark on building out their digital competencies.”

AVEVA Unified Learning combines the latest technologies with sound instructional design to deliver competency-based experiential learning, so that operators perform better in less time. This can be deployed on premise, on the AVEVA Cloud, or as a hybrid cloud solution for a complete enterprise-wide, multi-site training solution. This partnership delivers microlearning in concert with simulation, XR, and other tools as part of one integrated framework.

CIMdata, Ansys Publish eBook on Digitalization

0

ANN ARBOR, MI, USA, Apr 2, 2020 – CIMdata, Inc., the leading global PLM strategic management consulting and research firm, announces the publication of an eBook on digitalization, the first such eBook published as part of a multi-sponsor collaborative research program on digitalization / digital transformation in industrial companies.

According to Mr. Stan Przybylinski, CIMdata’s Vice President, “For many, digitalization is about applying digital technologies to change a business model, resulting in new revenue and value-producing opportunities. CIMdata believes that if you are a product company that is pursuing a digitalization or digital transformation initiative it will be difficult to succeed without a strong PLM foundation. In this research, we asked industrial companies to describe their as-is digital environment and where they may go next, as well as the impacts of concepts like the digital twin, the digital thread, advanced variant configuration management, simulation data and process management, and smart manufacturing.”

CIMdata enlisted several leading solution and service providers as sponsors of this research: Ansys, Dassault Systèmes, and HCL. The extended research program team collaborated to help identify the crucial issues facing companies addressing these issues.

The research program comprised several elements, including interviews with thought leaders from sponsors and their lead customers published on the CIMdata.com blog: www.CIMdata.com/blog. “This interview series has provided some great insights into both solution provider strategies and their customers’ actions,” stated Mr. Przybylinski.

This CIMdata eBook highlights the key issues facing adopting organizations. Entitled “Speeding Your Digital Transformation Journey” the eBook seeks to frame the discussion around the key concepts, like digitalization, digital transformation, digital twin, digital thread, and the rest using standard terminology, supporting the discussion with selected data from the survey results and quotes from interviews conducted. “The survey results highlight just how dominant these trends are in industry,” claimed Mr. Przybylinski. “In three years, 96% of the respondents claimed that smart, connected products would be very important or important to their company strategy. That includes 16% who said it was not at all important today. Similarly, only 11% say they have digital twins in production today, ramping up to 34% in three years. Another 43% expect to be in pilot three years from now. These results are consistent with other research on these topics and show just how much these trends are impacting industrial firms, and just how fast they are acting to address them. This will create a lot of opportunity in the market and also reduce the potential for confusion, one reason why we try to frame the discussion using the eBooks.”

“The digital transformation is driving our customers to create innovative products more efficiently by implementing pervasive simulation strategies and improving how they share data and optimize designs,” said Mr. Eric Bantegnie, vice president and general manager at Ansys. “Design success lies way beyond the ability of any one point solution, tool, or environment, as customers must address scale and complexity challenges across heterogeneous workflows, data and process management, high-performance computing integration, traceability, and results accessibility throughout development. Ansys provides an open platform through our Minerva solution, that enables our customers to manage all of these challenges and codify best practices, allowing for a democratization of simulation-led design and ultimately increasing design efficiency while reducing costs and time-to-market.”
