CorelCAD 2020

“CorelCAD 2020 offers users a complete CAD application that’s more powerful and intuitive, enabling them to achieve exceptional results faster,” said Klaus Vossen, Senior Product Manager, CorelDRAW. “This smart and affordable solution increases productivity and boosts performance across the entire 2D and 3D technical design workflow.”

Work faster with new Layer group filters and enhanced Custom Blocks

Even when working with complex files that may have hundreds of layers, new Layer group filters enable users to group referenced layers together to gain quick and easy access to specific areas of a drawing. Improvements to Custom Blocks include a new Save option for easy sharing, plus a new Test mode to evaluate block behavior, ensuring specifications are met without having to exit the block editor.

Experience a more intuitive 2D drafting workflow

The new Lasso Selection Tool and enhanced drawing constraint features enable users to precisely specify the object to be selected and how dimensional constraints are displayed. The new Pattern option offers improvements to the Copy tool, making it simple to duplicate objects along a path in a variety of shapes and create a specified number of copies in a linear pattern. User-favorite tools, including hatch, dimension, and rotate are fine-tuned to be more intuitive.

Do more with advancements to 3D modeling commands

The enhanced Sweep tool provides a new Bank option to design advanced 3D shapes that rotate along the specified sweep path. New ‘Offset edges’ and ‘Convert edges’ commands allow users to easily create 2D wireframe objects from the edges of 3D solids or surfaces.

Maximize productivity with enhanced PDF output

Ensure CAD designs can be viewed with full detail by creating layers in PDF files that reflect the layers in the original DWG file. Project efficiency is improved with the ability to batch print multiple drawing files into a single PDF.

Save time with the New Data Extraction Wizard (Windows version)

CorelCAD 2020 users on Windows can now specify and extract a set of object and/or block attributes which can be displayed in a table on the drawing or saved in an external file for easy sharing. The Wizard enables users to extract data directly from the technical drawing, producing a table-type sheet to automate the creation of BOMs, parts catalogs, order lists, and more.

Leica Introduces Nova TS60 Total Station

0

HEERBRUGG, Switzerland, Feb 20, 2020 – Leica Geosystems, part of Hexagon, announced today the new Leica Nova TS60, the world’s most accurate total station, with newly integrated DynamicLock and AutoHeight features.

Leica Nova TS60Leica Nova TS60 total station

The new version of the TS60 total station is now equipped with DynamicLock, allowing the instrument to lock onto a moving prism, and devised with AutoHeight, enabling users to get the instrument’s height with a simple button press. With these new integrated capabilities and sub-second and sub-millimeter accuracy, the TS60 is the most accurate total station for minimizing risks of downtime and unexpected costs and delays.

“We use the TS60 primarily when measuring large surveying networks for monitoring dams. Usually, we measure 20-35 points from a station, by conducting at least three sets of measurements in two phases; therefore, we observe each point a minimum of six times. With the new TS60 we achieve highly accurate results and save a lot of time as it is much quicker in navigating to the points than with previously-used instruments,” said Thorsten Zimmer, senior surveyor at Axpo Power AG. “Another good feature of the TS60 is that one can take a picture of the surrounding area with the instrument, including the previously observed points on that picture as an icon. We find this to be a good method of documenting newly observed points.”

The world’s most accurate total station

The TS60 is the only total station in the market that enables users to work with an angular accuracy of 0.5” and a distance accuracy of 0.6mm + 1ppm. Designed and manufactured to the highest levels of quality, this high-end total station is the best fit for most demanding projects due to its reliability even in the harshest conditions.

TS60 users can easily manage, process, analyse and quality check data with the intuitive Leica Captivate onboard software and processes the information back in the office with Leica Infinity survey software. The easy-to-use touch technology and user-friendly apps in the TS60 enable users to perform a variety of surveying tasks.

“We designed the TS60 for highly demanding surveying projects, requiring the world’s highest levels of accuracy and to reliably operate even in the harshest conditions. We integrated new capabilities to help surveyors save time and increase productivity with the fastest re-lock in case of interrupted line of sight – be it rain, fog, dust, sun, heat shimmer or reflections – and automatically measure instrument height,” said Hans-Martin Zogg, business director at Leica Geosystems.

E-on Ships PlantCatalog Collection, Associated Tools for VFX, Games, Architectural Visualization

0

PARIS, France, Feb 19, 2020 – E-on software, a leading global developer of software for the creation, animation, rendering, and integration of natural 3D environments in the computer graphics, VFX, architecture, and gaming industries, announced the immediate availability of the PlantCatalog offering, including an ever-growing 3D vegetation collection together with specific standalone and plugin tools.

e-onsoftware_PlantCatalog

The full information and PlantCatalog Species details are available online at https://info.e-onsoftware.com/plantcatalog.

The Collection

Designed by the company’s internal 3D vegetation modeler, botanist and landscape architect, in collaboration with several botanic gardens throughout the world (such as Jardín Botánico “La Concepción” de Malaga, the Bedgebury National Pinetum, Forest England, and Viveros Guzmán), the PlantCatalog species are the most realistic, versatile, customizable and botanically accurate vegetation models currently on the market.

The vegetation models are fully procedural, i.e. they are not mere static 3D models. Generating an instance of a given species will always yield a different model, still, retaining the botanical accuracy of the given genus.

Each species includes preconfigured presets (including maturity, health or seasonal variation) together with a plethora of dedicated parameters allowing the artist to fine tune each model to his liking. All species are also wind and breeze enabled.

The procedural definitions ship as HD (High polygon count) for hero trees, LD (Low polygon count) for mid-range, and widespread populations, and RT (dedicated Real-time specifications) for usage in any real-time engines.

The Tools

Together with the vegetation collection e-on software released PlantCatalog Exporter, a dedicated application that allows the artist to browse the entire collection, select the preferred preset, edit any given parameter and export the result to his application of choice.

The PlantCatalog Exporter standalone application allows users to export to any 3D application using generic export formats such as Alembic, FBX, 3DS, OBJ, C4D, LWO, etc. It also offers a variety of export presets, custom tailored for specific host applications such as Unreal, Unity, 3ds Max, Maya, Cinema4D, LightWave, Modo, ZBrush, Blender, LumenRT and more!

Plants are exported fully rigged and fully textured, with UV maps (incl support for UDIMs) and displacement, and with all their preset LODs. Breeze or wind animated plants can be exported as a fully rigged mesh or as a cloud of animated vertices (MDD style).

Additionally, e-on also provides importer plugins for 3ds Max and Maya. These plugins allow for loading, editing health, maturity and season as well as published parameters and converting native PlantCatalog content within the host application, without going through any baking or exporting process.

Finally, the PlantCatalog vegetation assets are natively compatible with VUE and PlantFactory, the company’s flagship solutions, and can be accessed directly within the software content browsers. Loading the PlantCatalog assets within PlantFactory will allow the artists to customize their asset without limits!

Pricing and Availability

The PlantCatalog vegetation collection currently comprises a total of 60 species (59 HD, 34 LD, 20 RT), with new batches released every quarter.

The PlantCatalog Exporter is a 64-bit application, designed for 64-bit versions of Windows 8, Windows 10 and Intel Mac OS X 10.15+ platforms.

The importer plugins are currently compatible with 3ds Max and Maya 2019-2020 (windows only). The importer plugins will automatically generate native materials for a subset of renderers:

  1. In 3ds Max, the plugin can generate native materials for V-Ray Next, Scanline and ART Renderer.
  2. In Maya, the plugins can generate native V-Ray Next materials.

The plugins will also generate host-generic material sets, and therefore should be compatible with any 3rd party renderer (such as RenderMan, Arnold, Corona, Octane, RedShift etc.)

Other host applications and renderers will be supported soon while the company continues to expand its interoperability developments. Any new importer plugin released will be available for free to all PlantCatalog licensees (while their license is still valid).

The PlantCatalog comes in 2 commercial offerings. Both include the entire vegetation collection and subsequent collection updates, but access to the associated integration tools is only part of the uppermost package:

PlantCatalog: the full perks version retails for $249.95 per year. It is dedicated to all CG artists – from the VFX, Gaming or ArchViz industries and includes:

  1. the full plant collection in HD, LD and RT quality,
  2. new plant species added every quarter,
  3. the PlantCatalog Exporter standalone application,
  4. all PlantCatalog importer plugins for 3rd party 3D applications.

PlantCatalog Creator is an affordable edition of the PlantCatalog collection, dedicated to VUE and PlantFactory Creator users only. It retails for $99 per year, and includes:

  1. the full plant collection in HD, LD and RT quality,
  2. new plant species added every quarter.

For environment artists needing full digital environment creation power, e-on software also offers an Enterprise Solution that includes VUE, PlantFactory, the PlantCatalog collection, all importer and integration plugins (for 3ds max, Maya, Cinema4D and LightWave), and 25 seats of network rendering licenses (more information here).

The company also recommends reading the new set of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ), dedicated to the PlantCatalog products and licensing.
