VariCAD 2025-3.0 Released for Windows, Linux

LIBEREC, Czech Republic, Aug 7, 2025 – VariCAD announces the release of a new version of its flagship product, VariCAD 2025-3.0.

The new version contains changes in 3D modeling, a new feature in 3D groups – support of transformation of 3D group location, definition of tolerances of 3D threads created for 3D printing, color mapping for DWG/DXF output and a new option for input of 2D coordinates from a text file. Moreover, a VariCAD Viewer supports working with multiple open files.

Highlights:

Changes in 3D modeling.

For 3D groups, you can define a solid used as a solid containing transformation axes in case the group is transformed. You can select solid transformations directly from a 3D group manager. This feature can be used, if you define 3D groups for repeatedly selected solids for transformation of their locations.

If you create real 3D threads, you can define thread tolerances. These tolerances are defined separately for outer threads – like screws, and for inner threads, like threaded holes. The tolerance is important, if you want to print the thread on a 3D printer. Although the thread profiles are created exactly according to ISO or ANSI standards, in case of zero space between outer and inner threads it may be a problem to use them well. Thread tolerances solve this.

Changes in 2D.

You can define colors used in DWG/DXF output, assigned to the VariCAD 2D colors. Although the default mapping can be used well in most cases, explicit definition of colors may solve some special cases.

For input of coordinates from a plain text file, there is a new option – additionally to values defined as XY coordinates, these values can be defined by radius and angle, measured from the coordinate center.

VariCAD Viewer.

Now, the Viewer supports usage of multiple files (documents) open simultaneously. It contains the same functions for opening files as the full version, including a manager of open documents. From the pull-down menu “Window”, you can select corresponding settings. Working with multiple files is a default option. You can select the old method, when a single file can be open at a time.
