Virtalis, SiliconCore Present LED Multi-View Immersive VR at ISE 2024

MANCHESTER, UK, Jan 31, 2024 – Enterprise VR specialist Virtalis has utilised SiliconCore’s proprietary LED technology to create the first multi-point of view interactive VR experience on its fine pixel pitch XR displays. This will be presented for the first time at ISE 2024 on SiliconCore Booth 5F440 and is a huge step in rivalling projection to deliver environments with an elevated image quality and user experience, enhanced sustainability credentials and increased reliability over a longer lifespan.

Virtalis is partnering with SiliconCore to demonstrate this capability using the manufacturer’s pioneering XR ready displays of 1.9mm XR and soon 1.2mm XR. The Virtalis solution allows two points of view to be presented in real time in the same physical space simultaneously, using an ART tracking system and Volfoni active 3D glasses to bring the complex datasets to life.

This means that instead of the world just moving to the exact perspective of one participant, two people can be immersed accurately in the virtual dataset in tandem or one person can be tracked while the wider audience has a fixed point, viewing in active 3D.

This will transform the experience for design review workflows, simulation and experiential learning delivering cross platform collaboration on multiple displays in real-time.  This means reductions in time to market, increases in right-first-time design and manufacture while enabling seamless collaboration across the supply chain. More importantly, without restricting people’s view of the physical space with a VR headset, allowing for greater collaboration.

This is achievable now with direct view LED thanks to the 240hz frame rate of SiliconCore’s 1.9mm XR LED display through its proprietary driver chip innovation. Each viewer sees the data aligned with a different frequency, meaning they can be exploring the same dataset but tracked from their physical position, or a different dataset entirely, depending on the use case and desired experience.

In addition, high brightness, high contrast and 160-degree viewing angles coupled with cool operating temperatures lead to a longer lifespan for optimal ROI, with a power reduction of 20-40%, for significantly reduced operating costs.

Eric Li, CEO of SiliconCore Technology comments: “Our unique and patented technologies mean that we are the only LED manufacturer delivering a 240hz frame rate for 1.9mm and soon for 1.2mm solutions. Our patented Common Cathode driver chip technologies include fast clock speeds to enable frame rates of 240hz and refresh rate of 7680hz, delivering uniform colour and defined images, with less motion blur.

“As the video production and simulation markets advance, our goal is to provide the highest resolution and performance solutions for XR environments.”

Paul McColl, Systems Product Manager at Virtalis explains: “There is a great deal of complexity in achieving multiple points of view on fine pixel pitch dvLED displays. When combining two unique stereoscopic views into one system they must operate at twice the frame rate of a traditional system. This has to be tracked and made visible without ghosting. The combination of the very best LED technology, with tracking from ART, 3D glasses from Volfoni and our expertise makes all this possible. Something one must experience in person.”

Virtalis, with more than 30 years developing VR solutions, is unique in being able to bring together the finest technologies, both hardware and software, to make these virtual worlds a reality. As the only LED manufacturer designing its own driver chips, SiliconCore is uniquely positioned to maximise the efficiency and performance of each pixel.
