WALTHAM, MA, USA, Sep 22, 2021 – To explore ways of using cutting-edge technology for routine operations automation, AMC Bridge has researched the possibility of utilizing machine learning for facility management. The resulting AI for Facility Management technology demonstration (TD) automates the creation of a bill of materials (BOM), by recognizing and labeling images of buildings, and also facilitates sharing of the extracted data.
AI for Facility Management allows users to create a BOM template from a façade image taken with an iPad® tablet. The TD recognizes doors and windows in the picture and creates an editable list of openings that includes the item type, address, image, manufacturing details, and an optional description. Users can edit the description and accompanying notes, select which items to add to the BOM, and email the resulting HTML report to themselves or other recipients.
The TD has been developed with BOMs for façade renovation or a washing workflow in mind, but it’s only one possible application that such an approach could have to boost productivity in facility management.
