IronCAD 2027 Product Update 1 Released

ATLANTA, GA, USA, Nov 5, 2026 – IronCAD, a leading provider of innovative 3D CAD software solutions, today announced the availability of IronCAD 2027 Product Update 1. This release extends the quality and capabilities of IronCAD 2027 with targeted enhancements in AI-assisted design automation, sheet metal workflows, piping, drafting, feature recognition, and interoperability. Optimized for industrial equipment and machinery design, metal fabrication, and mechanical engineering teams, the update helps users move from concept to production-ready data with fewer interruptions and less rework.

Key new features and enhancements highlighted in IronCAD 2027 Product Update 1 include:

  • AI Design Assistant Improvements, including AI Script Generation for Design Automation
Building on IronCAD’s integrated AI capabilities, the AI Design Assistant has been enhanced with stronger support for AI-driven script generation. Users can leverage natural-language prompts and AI assistance to generate scripts that automate repetitive modeling tasks, configure components from catalog data (including metadata, parameters, materials, and Smart Attachments), and accelerate design automation workflows—further shaping the future of intelligent design inside IronCAD.
  • Shrink Wrap Command Ignores Hidden Parts
When creating a simplified shrink-wrapped model of an assembly, any currently hidden parts are automatically excluded from the resulting geometry. This produces cleaner, lighter files focused on visible design intent and improves performance when sharing simplified models with customers or manufacturing partners.
  • Improved Feature Recognition Import Options
Imported models are converted into editable IronCAD features significantly faster, with enhanced recognition algorithms that handle a wider range of geometry more reliably. Users can enable the feature recognition option during import or convert existing imported geometry via the Interaction menu, reducing wait times for reverse engineering, fabrication quotes, and adapting supplier models.
  • Redesigned Sheet Metal Fold/Unfold Structure (Test Only)
Sheet metal parts can optionally use a streamlined three-level structure (Assembly → Sheet Metal Part → Feature) that keeps both the folded and flat views organized under a single part node. This cleaner Scene Browser hierarchy improves compatibility with external PDM systems (currently available as a test option via registry setting).
  • Save Sheet Metal Features to Catalogs
Sheet metal features—including combinations of bends, holes, and edge rounds—can be dragged and dropped into catalogs for reuse across projects. This enables fabricators and designers to build standardized libraries of common feature sets for faster, more consistent design of similar parts.
  • Flexible Pipe (Spline) and Construction Lines in Piping Module
The piping command now supports flexible pipes using a spline path and the ability to incorporate construction curves into the pipe route path, giving mechanical designers and equipment engineers greater flexibility when laying out fluid systems, process piping, and industrial utilities.
  • Copy or Move Drawing Views Across Sheets in ICD
Drawing views can be copied or moved to another existing sheet or to a newly generated sheet using the default template. Section, detail, and auxiliary views can be handled one at a time, with safety prompts to help preserve parent-child relationships—streamlining organization of multi-sheet production drawings.
  • Checkbox Selection for Part/Assembly in Standard View Creation
When generating standard projected views, checkboxes allow precise selection of which parts or components appear in the new views, enabling cleaner drawing generation for large machinery assemblies and reducing later manual cleanup.
  • Section Cut Settings Across Views in DRAFT
Secondary drawing views can automatically inherit section-cut details (cutting plane definition, depth, etc.) from their parent or main view, ensuring consistent section representation across multi-view drawings with far less repetitive setup.
  • Native CAD File Translator Update (IronCAD Native Translator Add-on)
The Native CAD Translator Add-on has been updated to support the latest versions of major industry formats, including CATIA V5 (up to V5–6R2026), Creo (up to Creo 13.0), NX (up to NX 2606), Inventor (up to V2027), SolidWorks (up to 2026), Solid Edge (up to SE 2026), and others. Teams can open the newest customer, supplier, and partner models without intermediate conversion steps.

Bug Fixes & Stability Improvements

A broad set of quality and stability enhancements addresses issues related to large assemblies, sheet metal, drawings, linking, dimensions, export, and more—delivering greater day-to-day reliability for complex industrial workflows.

“This release extends the quality of IronCAD 2027 while adding significant improvements in the design and detailing process,” said Cary O’Connor, General Manager of IronCAD Product Division and S.V.P. Product & Strategy. “Advancements in the AI Design Assistant continue to shape the future of design in IronCAD with the assistance of AI.”
