The proposed Spatial AI Centre comes at a critical time for India. Despite being the world’s 5th largest economy, the nation faces a severe skills shortage: 53% of businesses struggle to find skilled employees, only 4.7% of the workforce possesses formal vocational skills, and a potential $1.97 trillion GDP loss looms by 2030 due to skill gaps.

The $15 million investment into the Spatial AI Centre signifies a commitment to enhancing India’s educational infrastructure, enabling students and entrepreneurs to capitalize on the exponential growth potential that Spatial AI and augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR) technologies offer. The project’s phased approach includes launching the central hub and 10 satellite centers in the first year, targeting 500,000 learners. Years 2-3 will see an expansion to 50 satellite centers, aiming to reach 2 million learners. By years 4-5, the project aims to scale to 200 satellite centers, with a goal of impacting 5 million learners.
