3D Prod Acquires Sculpteo

VILLEJUIF and RAON-L’ETAPE, France, May 18, 2026 – 3D Prod announces the acquisition of Sculpteo. This merger unites two complementary areas of expertise: industrial 3D printing in the Vosges and Île-de-France regions in France, creating a European leading player capable of supporting manufacturers from prototype to large-scale production. This acquisition marks the return of Sculpteo, a French leader founded in 2009, to French ownership after its acquisition by BASF New Business GmbH (a wholly owned subsidiary of BASF SE) in 2019. This acquisition occurs in the context of a global 3D printing market valued at $24 billion in 2025, which is expected to double within five years.

3D Prod, a player in industrial 3D printing backed by Platex (a specialist in plastic injection molding), is acquiring Sculpteo. The transaction is being advised by the French law firm Lasserre Avocats; the transaction amount remains confidential.

Overview of the new group:

  • 100 employees
  • €17 million in combined revenue, with a target of €20 million by 2027
  • More than 1,250,000 parts produced annually
  • More than 7,000 corporate clients, from SMEs to large corporations
  • Sectors covered: automotive, aerospace, healthcare, design, and industry
  • Two production sites: Vosges and Villejuif in the Île-de-France region, providing combined global coverage of 62 countries
  • One of the largest HP 3D printer fleets in the world

A complete offering, from prototype to large-scale production

3D Prod brings its industrial production capacity, finishing expertise, wide range of technologies including plastic injection molding, and European roots. Sculpteo contributes its proven digital platform, technical design expertise, and ability to serve an international customer base. This highly complementary combination will allow them to more effectively serve customers ranging from startups to large corporations, with a broad range of additive manufacturing technologies, including one of the world’s largest fleets of HP MJF 3D printers. Together, they cover the entire value chain: rapid prototyping, one-off manufacturing, and industrial-scale production.

Alexandre d’Orsetti, CEO of Sculpteo: “Combining the offerings of both companies will give customers access to a broader portfolio of materials and services, delivering an even more comprehensive industrial 3D printing solution.”

An Industrial Ambition in Two Phases

The group’s strategy is structured in two distinct phases. Initially, the objective is to optimize commercial synergies and production by leveraging the complementary strengths of the two entities, from prototyping capabilities to the launch of industrial series. The group, which generates combined revenue of €17 million, is targeting €20 million by 2027 while continuing its expansion in Europe and North America.

Starting in 2027, a second phase of investment and production ramp-up will take place: upgrading equipment in the Vosges and Île-de-France regions, recruiting new talent, and accelerating series production, in line with anticipated market growth of over 10% per year.

Quentin Kiener, President of 3D Prod, “With this merger, we are giving ourselves the means to support the expansion of this sector by offering a complete range of services, from prototypes to large-scale production, to support French, European, and American manufacturers at every stage of their development.”
