GHENT, Belgium and SAMSUN, Türkiye, Jan 14, 2026 – AMIS, a leading developer of advanced Additive Manufacturing build preparation software, and Dr. Hasan Bas from 19 Mayıs University (Samsun, Türkiye) have announced a collaboration to integrate a variable slice height algorithm into AMIS Pro, the company’s powerful Build Preparation solution.

This breakthrough introduces adaptive slicing to binder jetting—a method that dynamically adjusts layer thickness based on part geometry and local detail requirements. Unlike traditional uniform slicing, Dr. Bas’s algorithm combines adaptive layer control with binder optimization, reducing the staircase effect and improving surface quality while cutting build time. Thicker layers are applied in low-detail regions, thinner layers where precision matters—delivering up to 12% fewer layers without sacrificing accuracy.
“We are excited to collaborate with Dr. Bas, whose innovative approach aligns perfectly with our vision for smarter, faster additive workflows,” said Kris Binon, Managing Director of AMIS. “This integration will give AMIS Pro users unprecedented control and efficiency in slicing.”
Dr. Bas added: “AMIS Pro provides an excellent platform for implementing intelligent printing strategies. Integrating adaptive slicing is a meaningful step toward more efficient binder jetting.”
AMIS develops advanced build preparation solutions for powder-based additive manufacturing, helping users achieve maximum nesting density, optimized slicing, and streamlined workflows. *19 Mayıs University* is a recognized center for research in industrial engineering and advanced manufacturing technologies.
