TOKYO, Japan, Jun 12, 2026 – DMG MORI is celebrating the opening of its new expansion facility at its Stipshausen site in Germany, thereby underscoring the strategic importance of ULTRASONIC technology for the future of machine tool manufacturing and the machining of hard and brittle materials.
The modernized facility of DMG MORI Ultrasonic Lasertec GmbH offers 1,400 square meters of additional space for production, logistics, and expanded research and development. The training department has also been given new facilities at the site. In addition, there is a new employee cafeteria with an outdoor area.
“With this expansion, DMG MORI is clearly demonstrating its commitment to the Stipshausen site. The new capacity will position us for a strong future and create the ideal conditions for further growth and technological innovation,” said Patrick Diederich, Managing Director of DMG MORI Ultrasonic Lasertec GmbH.
In addition to Dr.-Eng. Masahiko Mori, Group CEO of DMG MORI, and other members of management, customers, partners, and representatives from the political and local communities attended the opening ceremony.
Simone Schneider, State Secretary at the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Economics, Tourism, Energy, and Climate, emphasized: “Future technologies need future-oriented machinery. Companies like DMG MORI are boldly forging ahead and embodying innovative strength.”

Strengthening research, development, and customer focus
With this expansion, DMG MORI is further expanding its research and development capabilities. The goal is to consistently advance innovative manufacturing technologies and offer customers practical solutions for demanding machining tasks.
The Stipshausen site has stood for technological excellence in ultrasonic machining for decades and plays a key role at DMG MORI. The site manufactures 5-axis machining centers with ULTRASONIC technology, which are used primarily in the semiconductor and optics industries, as well as in the medical and aerospace sectors. Thanks to high-frequency ultrasonic technology, even the most intricate geometries in hard, brittle, and difficult-to-machine materials can be efficiently machined. Additionally, process integration and flexible automation solutions enable the rapid and flexible implementation of complex manufacturing processes.
ULTRASONIC Technology Days featuring the world premiere of the ULTRASONIC 80 Precision
The grand opening on June 10, 2026, also marked the start of the ULTRASONIC Technology Days, which will run through June 12, 2026. During this event, DMG MORI will demonstrate the versatile applications of ultrasonic-assisted machining of hard and brittle materials. In addition to five machines, the ULTRASONIC 80 Precision will also be presented for the first time as a world premiere in Stipshausen. Renowned customers, including ASML, the Ernst Abbe University of Applied Sciences in Jena, and Herbert Stephan KG, delivered keynote speeches.
The ULTRASONIC 80 Precision superimposes high-frequency vibrations onto the rotational tool movement, enabling hard-brittle materials to be machined reliably, precisely, and with significantly reduced process forces. Thanks to its highly rigid design and an intelligent cooling concept, it achieves a positioning accuracy of up to 5 µm, setting high standards in precision manufacturing. In addition, it enables both 5-axis milling and cylindrical grinding in a single machine, making it an optimal, process-integrated solution in line with Machining Transformation (MX).
