TURKU, Finland, Aug 16, 2024 – MagiCAD Group and Modecsoft have collaborated to enable full software interoperability between MagiCAD Electrical for Revit and Modecsoft’s ElectricalOM. The result is a complete solution for UK-aligned electrical design and calculations within a Revit BIM project.
New capabilities for electrical design in the UK

A seamless workflow between the two software solutions far surpasses the capabilities of plain Revit solutions.

Complete workflow for electrical design and calculation
Inbuilt functions in MagiCAD Electrical and ElectricalOM (EOM) enable the exchange of electrical design data between the two software applications. This allows electrical designers to seamlessly integrate electrical calculations in EOM into a Revit BIM project.
In early project stages, MagiCAD enables definition and planning of switchboards and main electrical routes. The preliminary network can be brought into EOM where designers can select protective devices, fill in cable data, and perform a variety of calculations and checks.
Later in the project it is possible to bring the entire electrical design, including switchboards and devices into EOM for calculations and refinement. The changes and calculation results from EOM can be imported back to the Revit model with parameter merging between the two applications.
The exported parameters can be selected according to design stage and EOM identifies new, removed, and existing data. This means that the process can be repeated at any point and as many times as needed throughout a project. The two applications can also be used side by side and the changes can be updated in real-time, or as a mass update when working with larger electrical networks.
