SOMERSET, WI, USA, Oct 19, 2026 – Preco, LLC, a global leader in laser processing and contract manufacturing solutions, announced the Nexus, a new in-line laser scoring system designed to make high-quality, easy-open pouch features accessible across the consumer packaging market.
Installed between the unwind station and the pouch-making line, Nexus allows manufacturers to apply laser scores for easy-open pouches in-line on their current equipment for a small incremental cost per pouch. Preco’s proprietary beam-delivery technology uses a single laser source to simultaneously score both sides of the material in one pass, helping ensure precise alignment for more consistent pouch tear performance.
“Nexus brings precision laser processing directly into the pouch-making process,” said Preco President Luke Schraw. “By combining our laser expertise with proven pouch-making technology, we’re helping manufacturers add differentiation and value with a simple production solution.”
Designed to integrate with a wide range of pouch-making systems, Nexus helps converters expand their capabilities without overhauling their existing production process. Precise, consistently aligned scoring helps improve pouch tear performance, while digital controls and saved job recipes make it easier to repeat jobs and efficiently move between production runs.
Preco will feature the Nexus at PACK EXPO International, October 18–21, 2026, in Chicago at Booth N-6022.
