EINDHOVEN, The Netherlands, Oct 23, 2026 – Additive Industries and Materialise announced the availability of the new Additive Industries Next-Generation Build Processor, a powerful software solution designed to enhance the performance, productivity, and process control of Additive Industries’ MetalFab systems. Developed in collaboration with Materialise, the new build processor combines the proven functionality of the existing Additive Industries Build Processor with a range of advanced capabilities that improve build preparation, process efficiency, and production scalability.
The Next-Generation Build Processor introduces significantly faster preprocessing, better handling of large and complex builds, improved process stability, and greater control over scan strategies. These enhancements make it ideally suited for industrial metal additive manufacturing environments where speed, reliability, and repeatable quality are critical.
Importantly, the new build processor enables many of the advanced software-driven capabilities introduced with the MetalFab 420K, allowing customers to benefit from enhanced productivity and process optimization across their system installations. Advanced features for the MetalFab 420K include optimized laser load balancing, variable beam diameter control by vector type, improved thermal stability through ghost vectors and advanced exposure strategy controls.
The software also delivers substantial performance improvements. Benchmark testing demonstrated a reduction in processing time from 46 minutes using the Classic Build Processor 2.6 to just 6 minutes with the Next-Generation Build Processor, enabled through multiprocessing and optimized algorithms.
The Next-Generation Build Processor integrates seamlessly with Materialise Magics for build preparation, configuration, and job submission. Existing users can transition smoothly by importing profiles from the Classic Build Processor.
Rik Bakker, CEO of Additive Industries, commented, “The introduction of the Next-Generation Build Processor represents another important step in our strategy to maximize productivity and process performance for our customers. By unlocking the advanced features developed for the MetalFab 420K platform we are enabling manufacturers to produce more parts, more efficiently, and with greater process consistency. Our collaboration with Materialise continues to deliver solutions that help customers make industrial additive manufacturing work, end to end.”
Karel Brans, Senior Director Partnerships, Materialise, added, “For MetalFab customers, this means faster, more stable builds, finer control over scan strategy, and real gains in throughput. The processing time reduction we’re seeing here directly impacts cost per part. It also connects directly into the CO-AM ecosystem, so that build data becomes part of a wider digital thread from design through production, unlocking further automation possibilities. Working with Additive Industries on this Build Processor is a good example of the kind of partnership we believe AM needs going forward.”
Lionel Simon, Manufacturing Engineer at key customer SWISSto12, who tested the Next-Generation Build Processor during its beta phase, commented, “The Next-Generation Build Processor opens up clear opportunities to improve workflow speed and make print preparation more efficient.”
The Additive Industries Next-Generation Build Processor is available immediately for MetalFab customers and supports the generation of production-ready build files while delivering enhanced process performance, improved build quality, and greater operational efficiency.
