YOUNGSTOWN, OH, USA, Aug 3, 2026 – America Makes and the National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining (NCDMM) are proud to announce the winners of a recent project call with a $6M budget. The Powder Alloy Development for Additive Manufacturing (PADAM) 2.0 is funded by the Air Force Research Laboratory, Foundational Technologies Directorate (AFRL/REMD), and aims to advance the readiness, manufacturability, performance, and supply chain resilience of high-temperature refractory alloys for additive manufacturing (AM) applications relevant to the Department of War (DoW).
“PADAM 2.0 is about moving AM refractory alloys from promise to practice,” said John Martin, Additive Manufacturing Research Director at America Makes. “Their outcomes will strengthen domestic manufacturing capability, lower barriers to qualification, and deliver more reliable, high-temperature materials for critical DoW and warfighter applications. Congratulations to the awardees, whose efforts advance the manufacturing industrial base.”
