BOSTON, MA, USA, May 11, 2026 — BigRep, a global leader in large-format additive manufacturing, is pleased to announce of the debut of all-new BigRep ONE.5X — a fully automated evolution of its 1-meter-cubed 3D printer — and a co-development partnership with Massive Dimension that brings pellet-based extrusion to the BigRep platform for the first time.

BigRep ONE.5X Brings Smart Automation to a 1 Meter Cubed Workhorse
Building on over a decade of success with the iconic BigRep ONE, the new BigRep ONE.5X is the most capable and approachable version of the platform yet. It introduces advanced automation, a redesigned user interface, and smarter print performance – engineered not just for what the machine can do, but for the people who run it every day.
The ONE.5X retains the proven dual PEX2 extruders, broader material compatibility, and flexible SWITCHPLATE print bed options from the previous ONE.5, while adding a new generation of features designed to reduce setup time, prevent downtime, and improve consistency across every print.
“The ONE.5X represents everything we’ve learned from over a decade of industrial large-format 3D printing, as well as global customer feedback. All of that is distilled into a machine that delivers consistent results, regardless of an end-user’s experience level.” — Jeff Olson, President, BigRep America, Inc.
A smarter machine that works with you
The ONE.5X introduces a new Human Machine Interface (HMI) — the same intuitive UI first seen on the BigRep VIIO 250, now brought to the ONE platform for the first time. Designed with clarity and ease of operation in mind, the updated interface makes the ONE.5X significantly more approachable for operators at any experience level, without sacrificing the depth that seasoned users expect.
Over-the-air (OTA) software updates are also new to the ONE platform, ensuring the machine stays current with the latest features and improvements without manual intervention, keeping it production-ready from day one and long after.
Advanced automation for reliable industrial printing
The ONE.5X is engineered to reduce manual user intervention and improve time and cost savings:
- XYZ autocalibration handles machine setup automatically, eliminating manual calibration steps and ensuring every print starts from the same reliable baseline.
- Auto-sequential printing detects available space on the print bed and starts the next queued job automatically — no operator required. Production keeps moving, even overnight.
- Adaptive bed mesh leveling maps the print surface before every job, compensating for any unevenness to nail first-layer adhesion across the full bed.
- Relay Mode automatically switches to the second extruder if the first runs out of material, keeping long print jobs running to completion without operator intervention.
Built for speed and accuracy
- Maximum print speed of up to 250 mm/s.
- A new pressure advance algorithm dynamically regulates material flow during acceleration and deceleration, eliminating corner bulges and producing cleaner, more dimensionally accurate geometry.
- Vibration compensation actively counteracts frame resonance at higher print speeds, allowing the ONE.5X to push pace without sacrificing surface quality, reducing overall print time by up to 10%.
BigRep & Massive Dimension Collaborate to Offer Pellet-Based Extrusion with New MDX Extruder
Through a new co-development partnership with Vermont-based Massive Dimension, BigRep is expanding into pellet-based large-scale extrusion by integrating the company’s new MDX extruder into the BigRep ONE platform.
Weighing 25% lighter than its predecessor and built with 40% fewer parts, the MDX from Massive Dimension is compact and designed to be serviced fast, making it an ideal fit for the BigRep ONE. Its simplified architecture reduces mechanical complexity, minimizes failure points, and gives operators faster access for troubleshooting and maintenance directly on the shop floor.
“The MDX is not just an iteration. It’s a reset. We removed complexity and reduced weight to create a more capable and more adaptable extrusion system, built for where the market is going.” — Tyler McNaney, Founder and CTO, Massive Dimension
Pellet extrusion is known for high-speed printing, lower material costs, and the flexibility to process and combine a wider range of materials and additives. The technology is especially well-suited for large parts that require high throughput, including furniture, molds, and functional prototypes.
By combining Massive Dimension’s extrusion expertise – backed by more than a decade in largeformat additive manufacturing – with BigRep’s industrial-grade printers and global sales and service network, the two companies aim to support customers looking for faster printing, lower material costs, and greater production flexibility.
Availability
