MAYSVILLE, KY, USA, Jul 9, 2021 – Carlson Software’s advanced post-flight photogrammetry software, PhotoCapture, is now available as a standalone desktop application. Bringing all the advantages of the existing cloud-based version, this new option allows users to choose the type of installation that best suits their business needs.
The new standalone version of PhotoCapture runs on Windows and is purchased with a perpetual license, optional maintenance, and unlimited processing. Requiring no data to be stored in the cloud, no internet connection, and no mandatory ongoing subscription costs, this new version opens a range of options not previously available to users.
“If your company needs to keep data secure locally, you don’t have fast, reliable internet service where you need to process your data, or you prefer to own your software, this is the solution for you” says Steve Cummings, PhotoCapture User Support. “This new release provides a great solution that brings all of the advantages of a mature, field-proven photogrammetry platform in a package that will work for you.”
PhotoCapture allows users to generate interactive 3D maps of sites and capture accurate 3D site data from a drone flight. Within the PhotoCapture Survey Canvas, users can draw lines, points, breaklines, generate contours, and triangulate surfaces. Projects can be exported for additional work within Carlson office software or shared with others.

The standalone installation requires up-to-date hardware to provide sufficient processing power, including an SSD hard drive and at least 16gb of RAM. Like many other Carlson software solutions, users of the standalone version of PhotoCapture have the option to purchase maintenance on a yearly basis, which provides all updates released in that year.
New users have the opportunity to try Carlson PhotoCapture’s cloud version, which provides a near-identical user experience to the standalone version, for 30-days once they register for an account. Upon verification, users can immediately begin working with the software and start processing a job.
