DN Solutions Announces Strategic Investment in Bengaluru-based INTECH Additive Solutions for Metal 3D Printing

CHANGWON, South Korea and BENGALURU, India, Apr 1, 2025 – DN Solutions, the largest machine tool manufacturer in South Korea and one of the top 3 worldwide, announces its strategic investment in INTECH Additive Solutions, India’s largest provider of metal additive machines and solutions.

This partnership combines DN Solutions’ many years of expertise in metal-cutting manufacturing with INTECH’s holistic 360° offering for metal additive manufacturing. Specifically, DNS is expanding its offering with the laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) technology.

On March 27, DN Solutions announces that it has signed an equity investment and strategic partnership agreement with INTECH Additive Solutions, India’s largest manufacturer of LPBF machines and solutions.

Metal additive manufacturing is a technology that constructs 3D objects by layering metal materials based on 3D modeling data. LPBF is considered the most advanced and widely applicable technology, accounting for approximately 80% of the metal additive manufacturing market. The process involves spreading a thin layer of metal powder onto a work surface and a laser then selectively melts and fuses the powder layer by layer. As the build platform moves downward, additional layers of metal powder are spread and fused, gradually forming the final object.

Industry forecasts predict that this machine market will grow from approximately KRW 1.78 trillion (EUR 1.18 billion) in 2022 to KRW 5.66 trillion (EUR 3.74 billion) by 2027, with an annual growth rate of 26%.

Previously, DN Solutions invested in ModuleWorks, a German developer of CAD/CAM software for machine tools, in 2023; CarbonBlack, an AI platform company based in Korea and the U.S., in 2024; and Neuromeka, a Korean robot automation company, on March 17, 2025. Each of these partnerships has led to close and ongoing collaboration. The recent investment in INTECH builds on this strategic investment roadmap.

Growth through partnership-based expertise

“This investment and collaboration will enable us to provide solutions—encompassing machine, process technology, and software—not only in metal cutting but also in metal additive manufacturing, strongly supporting our customers’ success. This is particularly true about complex geometries, internal structures, and material efficiency in global growth markets such as automotive, aerospace, medical technology, and electronics, including suppliers to the semiconductor industry.” explains Wonjong Kim, CEO of DN Solutions.

The portfolio of INTECH includes proven metal additive machines, intelligent software applications, and extensive expert services, which come together to create a unique customer journey. “With our digitally supported 360° offering, we go beyond the known standards in the market,” emphasizes Sridhar Balaram, founder and CEO of INTECH.” We start with the component, so we get involved in the process as early as the development stage and remain at the customer’s side until the ramp-up of manufacturing and possible scaling in production.”

DN Solutions is making bold yet strategic investments in innovative technology companies to solidify its position as a manufacturing solution provider—moving beyond conventional machine tools. These investments aim to offer comprehensive automation platforms across the entire manufacturing process and support various machining methods, including additive manufacturing.

Meanwhile, DN Solutions has recently announced a series of initiatives to leverage India’s abundant design expertise, further strengthening its technological leadership in advanced manufacturing.

The DN Solutions R&D Center in Bengaluru, India, is set to begin construction this year and will soon play a key role in the company’s global engineering capabilities, alongside its operations in Korea, the U.S., Europe, and China. In addition, its partnership with INTECH is expected to enhance technological capabilities in the emerging field of metal additive manufacturing.

According to KOTRA’s 2024 India Market Entry Strategy report, India is a technological powerhouse, producing 1.5 million engineers annually in fields such as mechanical engineering, metallurgy, electrical and electronics, computer science, and chemistry from prestigious institutions like the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) and the National Institutes of Technology (NIT). Notably, Bengaluru—home to DN Solutions India, INTECH, and the upcoming DN Solutions factory and R&D center—boasts a deep talent pool in advanced manufacturing, automation, IT, software, and fundamental sciences, earning it the title of India’s “Silicon Valley.”

With this strong engineering foundation, India has nurtured 111 unicorn companies, making it the world’s third-largest startup ecosystem. As a result, global corporations are actively establishing large-scale R&D hubs in the country. Major players such as Samsung Electronics and Hyundai Motor operate local R&D centers staffed with thousands of engineers. Additionally, multinational companies including GE, Siemens, Boeing, Airbus, ABB, Caterpillar have also set up significant research and development bases in India.
