CINCINNATI, OH; SEPTEMBER 5, 2024 – Revolution in Simulation (rev-sim.org), the global engineering simulation industry collaboration and technology alliance, has launched a new learning program dedicated to the exciting new role of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) in engineering simulation and product development. Whether you’re exploring AI/ML, are in the early implementation stages, or wish to more fully leverage its advanced capabilities, this new and free program offers a full range of information on this topic. The curriculum is curated by experts, offering best practices, expert guidance, and a community discussion forum to ask questions and share insights.
With information relevant to senior management, middle management, and end-users alike, the initiative is supported by founding partners including Siemens, Aras, EmpowerOps, and CIMdata. Founding Steering Committee members Justin Hodges (Siemens), Dr. Cenk Feridunoglu (EmpowerOps), Malcolm Panthaki (Aras/Rev-Sim), and Sandeepak Natu (CIMdata) are lending their expertise to curate and shape the material, and to coordinate and manage all the activities of this dynamic program.
The AI/ML in Simulation Program is a natural extension of Rev-Sim’s mission to advance innovation through cutting-edge simulation technologies. According to Panthaki, the emergence of AI and ML as a simulation tool is so significant that it warrants a dedicated program and section of the rev-sim.org community site.
“Simulation has long been a product development cornerstone. In recent times, AI and ML technologies have developed exponentially and have become practical tools. It was only a matter of time before these two streams collided and merged, and we are there now! AI and ML are starting to have a significant impact on how simulations are conducted, offering enhanced efficiency and insights, and a new way to perform design exploration and synthesis. The Rev-Sim AI/ML Program has been created to be a guidepost in these early, turbulent, uncertain times, as AI/ML finds its rightful place in the pantheon of engineering simulation tools and techniques. We help answer questions such as: Is it real? Where do I begin? Where do I go to learn? What are the learning steps I should take? Who are the experts I can ask about this? Where can I have discussions with my peers exploring the same path? What’s working and what is hype?
The AI Program Founding Partners and various experts in this field are demonstrating leadership by providing would be practitioners and advanced users with the AI/ML information, resources and tools that will soon become standard throughout product development. Join this free Program at rev-sim.org and let’s learn together with the experts!”
Founding Partners
Siemens: “Siemens is pleased to support RevSim’s effort to further education on AI/ML for the engineering community,” said Justin Hodges, Senior AI/ML Technical Specialist. “As we continue to advance the state-of-the-art in simulation and test with AI/ML, it is important that we reach a wide community of engineers and continue to share fundamentals in this relatively new area. The resources and dynamic content hosted by RevSim will provide valuable assets to the engineering community.”
Empower Operations.: “We are pleased to support Rev-Sim’s new AI/ML for Simulation Learning Program as a Founding Program Partner,” said Dr. Cenk Feridunoglu, Director of Engineering at Empower Operations “As AI/ML is a technology layer across all domains and disciplines, we view it as a building block for end user applications. Thus, we are taking a different path to bring our OASIS.AI technology to the engineering/simulation market by directly collaborating with software developers. It is a new paradigm. We look forward to sharing and discussing our ideas in the Community Discussion Forum and in the many live events that are being planned as part of this program.”
Aras: Rob McAveney, CTO, Aras explains, “Aras recognizes the massive potential in integrating AI/ML within product development processes. We see enormous opportunity to enable AI with a connected digital thread that provides the necessary context and relationships to enhance the product lifecycle. AI combined with a comprehensive digital thread can refine decision support, support deep learning, and open opportunities for generative AI. Aras is excited to participate as founding program partner of Rev-Sim’s AI/ML in Simulation Learning Program and we look forward to sharing expertise and collaborating with the community.”
The convergence of physics-based simulation and AI/ML is creating unprecedented opportunities for leveraging simulation techniques across the entire product lifecycle—from ideation and design to development, testing, validation, operation, and maintenance.
CIMdata: CIMdata Co-Director, Simulation Practice, Sandeepak Natu explained that enhancing human productivity by incorporating AI/ML methods, aligns with CIMdata’s focus on ‘Augmented Intelligence,’ a theme the organization has championed over the last five years.
“Engineering leaders must stay informed about these technologies and take proactive steps to integrate them into their processes. The new Rev-Sim AI/ML program is an exceptional resource, offering a comprehensive pathway for professionals to explore this rapidly evolving field. It offers curated learning, expert guidance, and a collaborative community—key elements for maximizing the potential of AI/ML in engineering simulation and product development. By participating in this program, we can collectively push the boundaries of what’s possible in simulation.”
