Volkmann vDryer Vacuum Drying Module Restores Moisture-Absorbed Metal 3D Printing Powders Before Printing

BRISTOL, PA, USA, Aug 18, 2026 – The vDryer vacuum drying module from metal powder handling equipment manufacturer Volkmann, restores metal 3D printing powders that have absorbed moisture to a uniform, defined moisture level before delivery to additive manufacturing equipment. Installed upstream of one or more 3D printers, this optional vacuum drying module for the vLoader 250 powder conveyor, gently removes absorbed moisture without heat to improve flowability, support printed component quality, and help reduce the need for time- and labor-intensive post-processing operations.

Featuring Volkmann’s proprietary electric vacuum pump technology, the inline vDryer uses gentle suction to efficiently remove moisture without exposing the temperature-sensitive powders to elevated temperatures. The conditioned powder promotes smooth material transfer while helping to reduce agglomeration, caking, particle adherence, contamination, and other moisture-related issues that can negatively impact production efficiency.

Compatible with additive manufacturing equipment from virtually any printer manufacturer, the vDryer is suitable for drying stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, nickel-chromium alloys, copper, cobalt, tungsten, silver, iron, alumina, and other metal powders. The vacuum dryer integrates seamlessly into Volkmann’s automated, closed-loop powder handling systems and can also be supplied as a standalone solution where dedicated powder drying is required.
