AMC Bridge, a global software development consultancy catering to engineering, manufacturing, and construction sectors, initiated operations in India this year. In a meeting with the company executives during their visit to India, I had the opportunity to converse with Vadym Synakh (COO), Boris Shoov (Executive Vice President), and Kateryna Synakh (Director of Marketing & PR). Our discussion encompassed various aspects, including an understanding of AMC Bridge, the services it provides, trends in the CAD and CAM industry, engineering software development, and the roadmap of AMC Bridge for India. Here is the interview.

Could you provide some insights into your background and introduce your company?

Vadym Synakh: In 1999, we established ourselves as a modest engineering outsourcing firm. Initially, we were a team of three individuals operating as a startup from an apartment. As time progressed, we pinpointed our niche in engineering software and officially structured our business around it.

Our expertise covers diverse facets of the engineering process, such as modeling, simulation, automation, and data management. As of 2023, our organization boasts a global team of approximately 750 specialists. Recognized by the Financial Times as one of the fastest-growing companies, we are actively propelling our growth by establishing subsidiaries in India. Our hiring efforts are in full swing in Chennai and Pune.

We’ve been fortunate to engage in numerous groundbreaking projects across diverse domains. Our focus has been on driving digital transformation for clients through tailored software solutions, breaking down data silos, integrating intricate applications, fostering internal innovation, and making leading technologies accessible. Our team possesses extensive expertise in APIs, SDKs of major engineering software solutions, various platforms, and a deep understanding of computational geometry, 3D visualization, and other advanced technologies. This collective knowledge allows us to effectively address our clients’ crucial business requirements. Over time, we’ve been honored with multiple awards, recognizing our exceptional operational capabilities and prowess in engineering software development.

Prioritizing the quality of our deliverables and streamlining communication with clients has been a cornerstone of our approach. This commitment has enabled us to establish a reliable customer base, characterized by long-term partnerships with some clients and recurring engagements with others who consistently present new challenges.

Boris Shoov: Historically, our primary market has been the United States, but we’re experiencing a growing clientele from global regions. To date, we’ve proudly served over 350 clients. Our diverse client portfolio encompasses the esteemed “Big Four” in CAD and PLM Software development—Autodesk, Dassault Systems, PTC, and Siemens Digital Industries Software. Additionally, we collaborate with numerous startups pioneering cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence, VR, 3D printing, game engine technologies, IoT, and HPC, as well as hardware manufacturers specializing in 3D printers and robotic devices. The software solutions we’ve developed cater to various sectors including manufacturing, construction, and architecture. Moreover, we increasingly emphasize creating solutions for enterprise companies. Some notable clients include 3D Systems, Duracell, Packsize, Stratasys, Katerra, and more. AMC Bridge continues to drive Digital Transformation across diverse industry sectors.

Could you outline the emerging trends in the CAD, CAM industry that you have observed?

Boris Shoov: CAD design has witnessed a remarkable evolution over the past few decades. The shift from 2D CAD to 3D CAD systems, the advent of cloud technologies, PLM, BIM, and the integration of CAD, CAM, and CAE tools have been significant milestones. In 2023, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning have taken center stage, marking a breakout year. The CAD world is in a constant state of flux, with continuous technological advancements shaping how architects, engineers, and designers manifest and convey their concepts. As a vendor working closely with nearly all CAD companies, we have the privilege of identifying emerging trends in this industry. Notably, there’s been a notable surge in the adoption of digital technologies within the AEC market, an industry traditionally lagging behind the mechanical and manufacturing sectors in software technology utilization. This shift is driven by a growing demand for new tools from their clientele. While the future remains uncertain, it’s evident that the industry will persist in its evolution, propelled by the rapidly accelerating pace of technology.

Regarding the AEC Industry, what types of projects does AMC Bridge typically undertake?

Boris Shoov: AMC Bridge covers a broad spectrum of projects within the AEC Industry, ranging from visual design and simulation to management and collaboration tools. Presently, architecture and engineering firms rely on software for enhanced collaboration and faster, more accurate design creation. General contractors and subcontractors leverage software to progress from digital designs to subsequent stages in construction, encompassing project estimating, scheduling, resource management, project monitoring, and reporting. The end-users are increasingly advocating for improved tools, propelling AEC software companies to invest significantly in innovation and cutting-edge technologies to meet these expectations. Concurrently, within the manufacturing sector, the integration of Digital Twin technology is expanding across all product lifecycle stages, supported by advanced tools for design, simulation, production, and more. Notably, some of these companies are clients of AMC Bridge.

What transformations are evident in the CAD outsourcing sector, from your perspective?

Vadym Synakh: The need for accelerated development, faster time-to-market, and resource constraints are driving businesses to seek external partnerships. Initially, this shift was primarily due to a shortage of in-house experts. By outsourcing to reputable companies with a proven track record of excellence, organizations can innovate and develop cutting-edge solutions.

For a significant number of our clients, we serve not only as an external partner but also play a crucial role in strategizing the design and development of entire products. In the enterprise market, we’re progressing towards comprehensive consulting engagements, offering solutions and actively identifying inefficiencies and challenging aspects within workflows and technical domains. Collaborating with external partners proves instrumental in crafting inventive solutions and generating unconventional ideas.

What projects are generally outsourced to AMC Bridge? Additionally, does AMC Bridge provide any software solutions?

Boris Shoov: Some companies lack the in-house expertise to develop new functionality or entirely new products, prompting them to seek assistance from us. Our developers possess a wide range of skills, covering various frameworks, languages, and technologies, notably specializing in cross-platform development.

It’s important to note that we do not provide our own software as off-the-shelf products. Instead, any intellectual property (IP) we develop belongs to our clients. We maintain this approach to avoid any conflict with our ISV clients and to uphold our strong partnerships without introducing potentially competing products.

In your perspective, what is the current level of industry acceptance for AI, ML, and Cloud technologies?

Boris Shoov: It’s prevalent to see cloud-based components integrated into nearly all modern software today. We’ve completed numerous client projects leveraging cloud technologies. While ML isn’t a new concept, its widespread adoption is growing, becoming a regular feature in new digital products. Similarly, AI has transitioned from academic circles into the marketplace, finding applications across various domains, including Engineering Software. This trend is expected to accelerate in the future.

What are your plans for India and message to Indian software developers?

Kateryna Synakh: India offers significant growth potential for our company, given its expansive market and the presence of a large pool of highly skilled professionals, particularly within our industry. We’ve taken steps to tap into this potential by establishing two offices in India, strategically located in Chennai and Pune. Our objective is to continue this steady growth trajectory, actively seeking professionals who share and resonate with our company values.

AMC Bridge dedicates substantial time and resources to cultivate a culture and skill set that perfectly aligns with our vision. We actively seek individuals who thrive on challenges and find excitement in engaging tasks. In return, we offer them compelling projects and valuable experiences. At AMC Bridge, our core values revolve around professionalism, mutual respect, ethical business practices, and a strong sense of teamwork. We extend a warm welcome to professionals who possess a genuine eagerness to learn, are committed to delivering high-quality work, and are eager to grow alongside our company. This journey may entail collaboration with various companies, all within the framework of AMC Bridge. Our colleagues have the opportunity to work on different projects, in different departments, and across diverse client markets.

Boris Shoov: In contrast to software vendors or consulting firms with a narrow product or market focus, our company offers a broad range of applications due to our diverse clientele. This diversity enables our team members to delve into a variety of solutions and technologies. We provide an environment conducive to professional growth for software development professionals open to learning new skills and embracing challenges.

We are currently finalizing the formation of the core team in our Indian offices and with the expertise of our skilled professionals of the core team and the addition of new team members in Indian offices, we eagerly anticipate taking on demanding projects and delivering tailored software development services to our clients. We embrace the opportunity to actively engage in the industry’s profound transformations, contributing to our clients’ digital transformation endeavors. Engineering software development getting more exciting now—it’s not limited to desktop C/C++ development any longer!
