Interview with AMC Bridge’s Karthikeyan Karamchandran and Lokesh Devareddy: Pioneering AI in CAD/CAM

During the AMC Bridge Pune Meetup 2025 on the “Unleashing the Power of AI Agents” it was great talking with Karthikeyan Karamchandran Director of India Operations at AMC Bridge, and Lokesh Devareddy, Software Developer, highlighted AMC Bridge’s forward-thinking approach to AI, cross-cultural collaboration, and workforce development. With a strong focus on innovation and adaptability, AMC Bridge is well-positioned to lead the next phase of technological evolution in the CAD/CAM industry. Here is the complete interview.

Cross-Cultural Collaboration and Workforce Expansion

DailyCADCAM: Mr. Karthik, can you share insights into AMC Bridge’s approach to fostering cross-cultural collaboration and workforce growth?

Mr. Karthik: At AMC Bridge, we have built a strong foundation for cross-cultural collaboration. Our teams are not isolated—our India team works closely with colleagues in Poland, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, and other parts of Europe. This creates an environment where we can share ideas, understand different working styles, and learn from each other.

We started our India operations three years ago, and the progress has been phenomenal. We now have a team of 28 highly skilled professionals across senior, mid, and junior levels. We’re proud to have such a high-performing team, and we have ambitious plans to double the team size by the end of 2025. To achieve this, we are actively hiring and seeking top talent from the market.

To encourage innovation and knowledge sharing, we regularly organize internal company-wide events and meetups in India. When our team members have valuable ideas, we offer platforms to present them, engage with industry experts, and contribute to the broader tech community.

The Role of AI in CAD/CAM and Software Development

DailyCADCAM: How do you see AI influencing CAD/CAM software and development?

Mr. Karthik: AI is already making a big impact in the CAD/CAM industry. For example, ChatGPT and other AI tools can now write SOLIDWORKS API codes and macros for platforms like AutoCAD and Excel. This reduces the need to manually search for developers to create macros—it’s now automated and much more efficient.

AI is also driving automation in design quality assurance. In the manufacturing industry, design QC is critical, and AI systems are becoming increasingly capable of handling this task. Generative design is another key development, where AI auto-generates optimized design options and handles repetitive tasks, enhancing efficiency and creativity. AI is not replacing designers, but it’s becoming an intelligent partner, helping designers work faster and smarter.

Mr. Lokesh: AI agents have significantly increased productivity in our work. Routine and repetitive tasks are now automated, allowing us to focus more on solving complex problems and optimizing solutions. AI features are becoming standard across most CAD software, offering real-time suggestions, simulation, and personalization, transforming CAD into a dynamic and responsive tool.

Continuous Learning and Innovation at AMC Bridge

DailyCADCAM: How is continuous learning and collaboration driving innovation at AMC Bridge?

Mr. Lokesh: AMC Bridge fosters a great working environment where knowledge sharing and collaboration are encouraged. Internal seminars, and meetups are regularly organized to facilitate learning and interaction. Everyone is encouraged to share their knowledge and learn from others, which drives collective growth and innovation.

Internal seminars at AMC Bridge covering a wide range of topics—from best practices and useful insights to deep technical discussions on emerging technologies. AI tools, in particular, receive special attention as we explore their role in enhancing both our internal processes and the way we solve business challenges for our clients. During internal seminars at the company, the speakers usually go beyond simply sharing tips on using AI tools effectively—we also explore real cases where specific tools have improved project outcomes. By exchanging this expertise and spreading it among colleagues, we enhance our ability to deliver more efficient solutions to our clients.

AI and Legacy Data in Design

DailyCADCAM: Can AI help companies leverage legacy design data for new product development?

Mr. Lokesh: Absolutely. Legacy data is crucial for improving the performance and quality of products. AI can analyze how small design changes impact product performance and quality, helping companies make more informed decisions. AI’s ability to analyze historical design data will become a key driver of innovation in engineering and manufacturing.

AI and Job Creation

DailyCADCAM: There’s often a concern that AI will lead to job losses. What’s your take on this?

Mr. Karthik: AI is unlikely to lead to widespread job losses. Instead, it will shift the nature of jobs. Just like the industrial revolution and the rise of the internet created new opportunities, AI will open up new roles and career paths. While some jobs may become redundant, AI will create new roles that require different skill sets. The key is to adapt and learn—those who know how to work with AI will have a competitive edge in the job market.

Advice for Fresh Engineering Graduates

DailyCADCAM: What advice would you give to fresh engineering graduates looking to build a career in AI and CAD/CAM?

Mr. Lokesh: AI is not complex—it’s about understanding the technology and applying it effectively. Graduates should focus on learning AI technologies and how to integrate them into design and engineering. AI tools like ChatGPT and other large language models (LLMs) provide a huge advantage in learning and problem-solving. Mastering AI will give young engineers a significant edge in the job market.

Future of AI in CAD/CAM Industry

DailyCADCAM: Is AMC Bridge working on developing AI agents for the CAD/CAM industry?

Mr. Karthik: Yes, we are actively working with customers to implement AI agents into CAD and design engineering. AI agents are already helping with design automation, simulation, and quality control. The future of AI in CAD is very promising, and AMC Bridge is at the forefront of this transformation.
