ATLANTA, GA, USA, Jun 15, 2026 – IronCAD announced the release of IronCAD Mechanical 2027, delivering significant enhancements focused on automation, steel design productivity, BOM accuracy, and overall workflow efficiency.
Designed for mechanical engineers and fabricators working with complex assemblies, steel structures, and large projects, IronCAD Mechanical 2027 introduces powerful new tools and smart improvements that reduce manual work while increasing design accuracy and consistency.
Key New Features & Enhancements
Enhanced Check BOM Tool: The popular CheckBOM command now includes material verification. It intelligently identifies parts with different shapes but identical Name/Part Numbers, as well as identical shapes with different names, while also checking material consistency — helping teams maintain higher data integrity and avoid costly manufacturing errors.

External Link Manager: A new capability allows users to better manage internally linked elements across different assemblies. The “Save Unlinked Elements” function now intelligently saves and converts these elements into proper external links, giving users greater flexibility without breaking existing connections.

Steel Design & Fabrication Tools – Major Upgrades
- Steel Joints – A brand-new tool that streamlines the application of joints to steel profiles. Users can place joints and insert fasteners in a single, efficient workflow, with full support for adding user-defined components to the library.

- Place Hole & Fasteners – New tool that automatically places bolts into all holes on a steel plate and can simultaneously create matching holes in underlying steel members.

- Steel Stiffener – Significantly improved interface with enhanced options for placing reinforcements on H-profiles in one operation, better management of lateral reinforcements on C and H profiles, and expanded hole pattern control.

- Profile Creation & Custom Steels – Improved sweep behavior, updated dialogs for component type changes, automatic regeneration of Attachment Points, and better handling of color/texture data from library profiles.

- Trim at Intersection – Now uses the negative shape of the reference tube for more accurate trimming of tubular profiles.

Additional Productivity Enhancements
- Numbering System – New support for persistent, generic counters (starting with “%”) that are not tied to any specific project.

- IPRO Explode – Explosion lines are now drawn orthogonally for cleaner and more professional presentation views.

- IPROActiveManager – Improved BOM generation for multiple assemblies and new ability to assign and display Material and Color at the assembly level.

- TreeView – Sheet metal parts are now grouped by thickness in the type tree view. A new context menu for surface elements allows quick deletion of selected groups.

“IronCAD Mechanical 2027 continues our commitment to giving mechanical designers practical, time-saving tools that directly address daily challenges,” said Cary O’Connor, , General Manager of IronCAD Product Division and S.V.P. Product & Strategy. “From smarter steel workflows and fastener automation to improved BOM validation and drawing consistency, this release helps teams deliver higher quality designs faster.”
