CYPE 2023 Released for AEC

ALICANTE, Spain, Jun 15, 2022 – CYPE has launched the new 2023 version in which it has perfected generated BIM models as they are now more accurate and more information may be included. The company has also consolidated its global application so that any technician in the construction industry, regardless of their specialty, can intervene in an Open BIM project from the sketching stage to the construction stage.

CYPE has made a major effort in this version to improve their architectural applications, especially the 3D design and modelling program CYPE Architecture, a free application based on the “Sketch-Architecture” duality that allows architects to “imagine the building” with a sketch in the initial phases of creation, with which they can carry out volumetric, ergonomic and occupancy studies to subsequently add construction elements and thus generate a more detailed BIM model.

These are the lines on which the latest improvements made to CYPE Architecture have been based, enabling more accurate BIM models to be generated, adding more information to them and, at the same time, simplifying their compatibility and readability with other programs. These improvements make the collaborative work between the different specialists working on a BIM flow more productive and complete.

CYPE Architecture goes a step further and expands its data export options and interconnection with other Open BIM tools for carrying out, for example, energy simulation and HVAC analyses, bills of quantities, extracting plans and graphic documentation or generating technical specifications. This version also highlights the improvements made when exporting structural elements and their connection with programs for the design and analysis of structures such as CYPECAD and CYPE 3D.

All this has been accompanied by optimisation in BIM model viewing thanks to an enhanced ability to work with textures, colours and data, options that improve the interpretation and understanding of the project and favor the search for the best construction systems.

Furthermore, in order to continue improving, as of this version CYPE users can now export any generated 3D model to the FBX file format to simulate project environments, materials, lights and objects in a photorealistic way.

Technical database

CYPE version 2023 includes major advances when working with technical data. Thus, designers have more choices when performing their analyses in the Open BIM workflow offered on the BIMserver.center platform, which reinforces the ability of CYPE applications in order to work with drawings and data in a holistic and coordinated manner.

An example of this progress can be seen in the Open BIM Construction Systems program, which can now share the complete technical data of the construction systems entered into the project. The information on these construction systems can be visualized in the 3D view of the thermal simulation and acoustic simulation applications.

This technical information can also be extended in a project by using the Open BIM Systems available at BIMserver.center. These manufacturer programs allow designs and analyses to be carried out with the companies’ real systems, generating accurate models from more than 30 manufacturers and incorporating them in a digital format within a BIM project. Carlos Fernández, CYPE’s technical director, believes that “CYPE databases have an exceptional level of detail”.

For all construction specialties

This new version consolidates the work carried out by the company to offer construction industry professionals a global solution thanks to which technicians can carry out a complete project with CYPE’s own tools. “We leave no specialist behind”, emphasises the company’s technical director, who explains that the past year has enabled CYPE to consolidate its range of applications that cover the phases of design (conceptualisation, planning, architectural, structural and MEP design, coordination analysis), execution (drawings, manufacturing, procurement) and operations (asset and maintenance management, waste).

In the construction phase, for example, Open BIM Sampling is the application developed for generating batches and samplings that allows job execution control. This latest version includes the generation of concrete batches for planning a job’s quality control, and the possibility of including the surface of walls and shear walls in the IFC model.

All this work is complementary to the company’s global and international vision, which has allowed CYPE’s BIM software to be used in 180 countries on five continents. This globalisation is possible thanks to the incorporation of national and international codes in its software, thereby simplifying the work of users from different geographical areas. Among the latest codes implemented during the last year are the following:

  • Connections for steel structures
    • NTC-DCEA 2020 (México)

Continuous software updates and improvements

CYPE versions represent the consolidation of the work carried out throughout the year and it is the moment when the company lays the foundations for all the technological development that it will carry out during the following period. As Carlos Fernández explains, the company launches different updates throughout the year in which it incorporates and implements constant improvements ranging from the development of new programs to the implementation of codes, as well as the installation of improvements in the operation, security and performance of all its applications.

Over the past year, CYPE has carried out a total of eight updates, which involved the incorporation of more than 500 improvements in the different applications. “Our approach, which began years ago, is to make increasingly complete updates and to use the release of the version to lay the foundations for all the programming for the following year,” explains the company’s technical director.
