CHARLOTTE, NC, USA, Oct 15, 2024 – HENNgineered, a global subsidiary of the HENN Connector Group specializing in metal deep drawing, plastic injection molding, and 3D printing, is excited to announce the expansion of its machine fleet with the acquisition of the Axtra3D Lumia X1 3D printer. With this addition, HENNgineered is also introducing Axtra3D’s cutting-edge Hybrid PhotoSynthesis (HPS) technology into its production capabilities. This move enhances their additive manufacturing solutions, offering a groundbreaking alternative to traditional injection molding, especially when high tooling costs and low production volumes are involved.

With five global locations— in Germany, Austria, and China—HENNgineered has earned a reputation for providing tailored manufacturing solutions, from product development to prototyping and series production. The adoption of HPS technology is a strategic step in reinforcing this capability, allowing HENNgineered to accelerate production while maintaining precision and quality.

Stefan Dür, CSO of HENNgineered, shares the significance of this adoption: “The HPS technology combines the best of all worlds, removing the trade-offs often associated with previous technologies. This allows us to expand our offering to customers, providing flexible, precise, and rapid prototyping solutions that bridge the gap between traditional and additive manufacturing.”

Key Advantages of HPS Technology for HENNgineered

HENNgineered has identified several critical advantages in Axtra3D’s Hybrid PhotoSynthesis (HPS) technology, making it a transformative addition to their manufacturing capabilities. The Lumia X1 delivers up to 20 times faster printing speeds than traditional SLA methods, allowing HENNgineered to reduce lead times and offer quicker turnarounds for prototypes and small series productions.

The flexibility of combining SLA and DLP technologies enables HENNgineered to efficiently produce larger, more complex parts without compromising on detail or accuracy. This capability enhances their service offering, allowing them to tackle previously unfeasible projects.

Committed to the highest standards of quality, HENNgineered values the exceptional throughput, accuracy, and superior surface finish provided by HPS technology. Its material versatility is also key, as HENNgineered utilizes high-performance materials like BASF’s Ultracur3D® RG 3280 to produce components for demanding environments.

“We are immensely grateful for our progressive partnership with HENNgineered, as we are providing them with end-to-end manufacturing solutions that bring customer ideas to life, supporting them along the entire value chain,” said Andreas Tulaj, SVP of EU Revenue. He continues, “In an effort to eliminate costly tooling processes and deliver high-precision, high-speed manufacturing, HENNgineered adopted the Lumia X1 for prototyping and small series production”.

About Axtra3D

Based in the US and Italy, Axtra3D is a global company specializing in Hi-Speed SLA systems that eliminates tradeoffs between print throughput, accuracy, feature resolution, and surface finish, typically found in traditional SLA or DLP systems.

The flagship Lumia X1 Hi-Speed SLA system by Axtra3D represents a significant advancement, combining its Hybrid PhotoSynthesis resin polymerization process with TruLayer, a layer separation technology. HPS utilizes both a laser and a DLP to image simultaneously, while TruLayer enables rapid detachment of the active print layer, resulting in a 20X throughput improvement while preserving the accuracy and fidelity of SLA parts.

With a curated material portfolio, Axtra3D has developed over 15 certified solutions for industries such as Industrial, Healthcare, and Dental, serving a global customer base. These solutions range from direct-use ceramic molds to end-use electrical connectors, industrial parts, dental prosthetics, medical devices, jewelry patterns, and more. Axtra3D’s systems are available in North America, the EU, and Japan, and a broad range of customers have already benefitted from its diverse range of applications.

Axtra3D operates with two business models.

Axtra Solutions: This model provides fully optimized, turnkey 3D printing solutions. Customers receive complete print profiles fine-tuned for maximum performance and reliability, supported by Axtra3D’s Applications team and quality material partners.

Axtra OpenAccess: This model further builds on Axtra Solutions™ and allows customers the flexibility to experiment with new materials and applications. It supports innovation and adaptability, enabling added flexibility.
