Interview with Mr. Dan Marinac, Vice President Sales and Marketing, Cimatron and Mr. Amol Mane, Director – Sales and Marketing, Southeast Asia, India, ANZ and South Africa: Showcasing Innovation and Leadership at IMTEX 2025

On the eve of IMTEX 2025 in Bengaluru, India, I had the privilege of engaging in an exclusive conversation with Mr. Dan Marinac, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Cimatron | Sandvik Manufacturing Solutions. During our discussion, Mr. Dan Marinac provided valuable insights into Cimatron’s cutting-edge product portfolio, the integration of AI into their solutions, and the company’s strategic roadmap for growth. He also shed light on emerging industry trends, the challenges faced by the die and mold manufacturing sector, and the opportunities shaping its future.

A special thanks to Mr. Amol Mane, Sales & Marketing Director for India and ASEAN, who shared an in-depth perspective on India’s rise as a key market. He highlighted how Cimatron is redefining its role in the mold, tool, and die industry while offering a sneak peek into what visitors can expect from their presence at IMTEX 2025.

Read on to discover what visitors can expect from Cimatron at IMTEX 2025.

Cimatron has been a key player in the mold, tool, and die industry for years. Can you share the company’s current strategic focus?
Dan Marinac: At Cimatron, our primary focus is on enhancing automation in the mold, tool, and die business. We’re not reinventing the wheel, but we are leveraging modern technologies to strengthen and refine our product line. Our goal is to maintain our leadership position in the mold market while aggressively expanding into the die sector. With a clear three-year roadmap, we are positioning ourselves to become the number one player in the die market.

Can you tell us about some of Cimatron’s latest innovations and how they benefit manufacturers?
Dan Marinac: One of our most exciting developments is DieQuote, a revolutionary tool for the die industry. It reduces quoting times from hours to just 10–15 minutes. This cloud-based solution considers global labor rates and doesn’t require complete CAD models, which gives customers the flexibility to work anytime, anywhere. Additionally, we’ve incorporated artificial intelligence (AI) into our workflows, automating repetitive tasks like electrode extraction and CAD feature recognition. These innovations save significant time and allow manufacturers to focus on creative and high-value tasks.

How is AI integrated into your systems, and what impact does it have on the workflow?
Dan Marinac: AI is transforming the way we approach mold and die design. For example, our AI system, trained on over 180,000 models, can identify 22 key CAD features automatically. This includes tasks like recognizing pockets and electrodes, which previously took hours but now take just minutes. We’re also working on automating electrode extraction and integrating smart components that interact dynamically with mold and die plates. These innovations bridge the gap between CAD and CAM, making them work as a unified system and ensuring real-time updates throughout the workflow.

How is Cimatron redefining its role in the mold, tool, and die industry, and what can visitors expect from your presence at IMTEX 2025?
Amol Mane: At Cimatron, we’re committed to enhancing automation and streamlining workflows for the mold, tool, and die business. Our focus has shifted from being seen primarily as a CAM software provider to offering a comprehensive end-to-end CAD/CAM solution. At IMTEX 2025, we’re showcasing how we integrate every stage of the mold and die design and manufacturing workflow – from importing models, quoting, preliminary design, finalising the design, electrode design to manufacturing.

India seems to be a critical market for Cimatron. How does the country fit into your growth and innovation strategy?
Dan Marinac: India plays a pivotal role in our innovation journey. Forty percent of our R&D team is based here, and their work has been instrumental in advancing AI capabilities like CAD feature recognition and process automation. The Indian market itself is growing rapidly, especially in the mold and die sector, and we see immense potential. We’re expanding our reseller network across key regions and focusing on SMEs to make our solutions more accessible. IMTEX 2025 is an excellent platform to highlight these efforts and demonstrate our commitment to India.

Sustainability and efficiency are becoming increasingly important in manufacturing. How is Cimatron addressing these challenges?
Dan Marinac: Sustainability is at the core of our solutions. We promote paperless operations and use advanced CAE technologies to validate designs, reducing errors and preventing tool crashes. These measures not only align with global sustainability goals but also save costs by minimizing downtime and maximizing efficiency. Our solutions are designed to meet the exacting standards of industries like automotive, aerospace, medical devices, where precision is critical.

What can visitors expect from Cimatron at IMTEX 2025?
Amol Mane: Visitors will experience our integrated CAD/CAM workflow firsthand. We’ll demonstrate how updates made in CAD are instantly reflected in CAM processes, eliminating costly errors and delays. They’ll also see the capabilities of DieQuote and our AI-powered features in action. With over 40 years of industry expertise and the backing of our parent company, Sandvik, we’re ready to show manufacturers how we can reduce delivery times by up to 70% and help them achieve sustainable growth.

Looking ahead, what is Cimatron’s vision for the mold and die industry?
Dan Marinac: We’re building the next generation of CAD/CAM automation. By integrating AI, cloud technologies, and advanced tools, we’re streamlining workflows and addressing the evolving needs of manufacturers. Our aim is to lead both the mold and die markets while driving innovation globally. India will remain central to this transformation, as we continue to invest in talent, technology, and partnerships to support the industry’s growth.

Any final thoughts for your audience at IMTEX 2025?
Amol Mane: Cimatron is here to partner with manufacturers on their journey toward efficiency, innovation, and sustainability. IMTEX 2025 is the perfect stage to explore how our solutions can transform operations, reduce costs, and boost productivity. We invite everyone to visit our booth and discover the future of mold and die manufacturing with Cimatron.
