TUBINGEN, Germany, Apr 22, 2025 – With the UE6 and RE6, Walter is expanding its GD26 portfolio with two new Indexable insert geometries for medium machining. The Tübingen-based company now offers a total of 12 geometries in 7 highly wear-resistant Tiger-tec Gold grades for parting off, grooving, Groove turning and Copy turning. The UE6 geometry is characterized by low Cutting forces and effective chip constriction when grooving and Groove turning. RE6 full radius inserts are designed for excellent Surface quality and optimum chip control, especially in dynamic turning. Thanks to its large Chip breaking range, the UE6 geometry enables reliable chip evacuation during all grooving operations. The RE6 geometry offers the best conditions for copy and relief turning. Both variants are designed for the Groov-tec™ GD grooving system, whose stability enables the significantly higher cutting parameters.

Fitted with Tiger-tec Gold Indexable inserts, Groov-tec GD can be used universally for all ISO material groups. The patent-pending double serration profile is decisive for the high stability of the system. It prevents the Cutting insert from being pushed out of the insert seat from the side. A raised center tooth (serration) also secures the insert against incorrect engagement into the pocket. In addition to the significantly increased stability compared to standard prism clamps on the market, the serrations minimize wear and dampen the micro-vibrations during the cut. This increases tool life by around 50 %. In combination with the (optional) Precision cooling, applications benefit from shorter cut times, higher productivity, and process reliability. In addition to precision advantages for demanding machining operations, Groov-tec GD offers ideal conditions for low-manned production and high-volume production.
